Hello everybody. I need some help planning my upcoming trip to Greece.

We’ll be flying to Athens on the 19th of July. Maybe spend a night in Athens and then head to the islands for 10 nights. We’re three 31 yr old straight guys looking to do some serious partying and some diving, in that order of priority. In between we’d like to maybe relax a bit, enjoy the sights and culture. This is very similar to Britta’s recent post so maybe repetitive, except that we need to have access to some very good diving at least 3 days out of the 10 days we have. One of us is an advanced diver.

I am planning a eurotrip next July for France, Italy, Greece, & the UK.

I know I have a year in advance to plan… However. I have heard both sides of the story… That it is best to book ahead…. and that it’s best to just show up because it is more fun that way.

Here are the problems that I am sure most traveler’s ecounter going to Europe.

Things are not as you expect them to be… therefore you might not end up where you thought you would. So I don’t want to book my hostels.. pay for them…

So I guess my main question is this: How do you travel from Italy to Greece (Santorini, Corfu, Crete, Athens) by train/ or ferry?

And which is the BEST option. Train or ferry?

Should I book advance?

Eurail says that you can get from italy to greece by train… but I have a hunch this would take days.

Please offer suggestions/ tips. This is my first eurotrip & I want to explore France, Italy, & Greece.

I was curious what the easiest/ cheapest way it is to get from Croatia to Greece. Bus, Ferry? How much $ would i be looking at?

What is the average price to take a ferry from island to island. Also, how often do the ferries run and do you have to book far ahead?

Hello all!

A couple of friends and I are looking at taking a spring break trip to either Turkey & Egypt, just Turkey, or possible Turkey & Greece.

I was wondering what y’all thought about these places, I just got back from a backpacking trip and one of my big regrets is not going to Turkey or Greece, but I would also like to see N. Africa and the Mid-East. I know time is limited. So any help with places to see, good cheap activities, or possible cities to visit.

I’m traveling to Greece for a week this June and while beyond excited I don’t really know exactly what to see. My mom & I are flying into Athens & then need to take a ferry back to Venice after 7 days. We want to spend a day or two in Athens visiting the must-sees but beyond that we’d like try to pick just one island to relax on…preferably one with picturesque white buildings with bright blue roofs perfect for enjoying saganaki. Any suggestions? PS I should also mention that I’m a Peace Corps volunteer so low-budget suggestions would be ideal. Thanks!

My roommate and I are looking into doing a pseudo back-packing trip in Greece to visit Athens and do some island-hopping. However, the flight fares seem to be monstrous. So far, direct flights are looking like anything from $1200-1400. I’ve looked at sifting through different websites and have looked into going through London or Brussels, or taking a bus down to Buffalo first then taking a flight out of the US. I was just wondering if anyone has been able to find anything affordable and preferably coming out of Toronto?
