2009 Great British Cheese Festival

(from visitwales.com)
Britain’s biggest Cheese Festival is set for a repeat performance at one of Wales’ 641 castles. 2,000-year old Cardiff Castle, located right in the capital’s center, promises to outdo last year’s stellar showing, when the venue welcomed 7,000 visitors (many of them international) during the 2-day Great British Cheese Festival.
Cheese lovers and buyers from around the world will again converge on Cardiff, joining Welsh cheese makers, to taste and buy from a selection of nearly 500 sheep, goat, cow, and, yes, even, buffalo artisanal cheeses. The Festival will kick off with the Great British Cheese Awards ceremony on September 25th and will provide a focal point at the start of British Cheese Week, September 26 – October 4.
The 10th annual Great British Cheese Festival’s public days – September 26 & 27 2009 – will include:
- Master Cheese Making Classes and Demonstrations – for everyone from novices to experts;
- True Taste of Wales – a selection of award winning produce from Wales;
- Best of British Market – a diverse range of artisan and unusual fine food & drinks;
- Cheese Tossing, Cheese Skittles and Live Music;
- The Cardiff Arms – offering over 35 British beers, wine and cider;
- Britain’s Biggest Cheese Market – over 450 cheeses to try and buy.
