I am checking some air line for December time frame.  They say they fly that route.  However, if I check until Octorber, they seem to have fly schedule listed and price, but when I check for December time frame, they say it is not available?  what does this means?  are they not flying in the winter time?  or they have not post the schedule for winter yet?  any body know?  thanks

Could be they’re scheduled but have not set fares yet. Which airline and route?

If it’s one of the budget airlines, then most likely you can’t book that far in advance yet.  Give it a month or 2 and you should be able to buy your ticket then.

What airline is it that you are looking at??

I am trying to book tickets from Athen to Krakow during the December holiday time frame.  The air line I check are Skyeurope and Wizzair?  do they fly in the winter to these location?  I saw that they have fly upto October.thanks,

I doesn’t look like Skyeurope has anything scheduled past October currently. This is not unusual for smaller, low-cost airlines. Part of their success is the ability to switch to more profitable routes from season to season. Athens is a fairly popular winter destination from northern Europe, so my guess is they’ll continue it into Fall and Winter.

I guess I should hold off and wait for another month or so, hope fully the fall schedule will be out.  I wonder is there any way to verify that?  thanks

Nope, you just need to wait. For the reasons Don has mentioned low-cost airlines are less predictable then their “traditional” (and typically more expensive) counterparts. At may even happen then after you book your flight a few month in advance the airline decides to cancel the flight if it has trouble selling enough tickets to be profitable.
But if you are OK with some uncertainty you are going to save a lot of money, at least in the long run.

This happened to me on SkyEurope actually.  I booked a flight between Bucharest and Budapest really early, and a few months later, the entire route was cancelled.  I did get an email from the airline stating that it was because the route was not as in demand as they had anticipated.  So, my flight was cancelled, and I still haven’t been refunded.
