Airline merger: Delta acquiring Northwest

I thought I started a thread about this possible merge months ago, but Search does not turn it up and I don’t feel like trying to dig it up.
Delta and Northwest
Doesn’t look like everything is ironed out yet, but it’s definitely happening.
With airlines going bankrupt right and left and the wretched economy, it could either be a really bad time to travel, or perhaps a really good one—not sure.
Another friend of ours just got laid off yesterday.
This will also probably send Continental and United into merger talks.
It might be good for the people working for the companies job security and all that crap but it will not be good for the travelling public, especially if they cut out a couple of the hubs and remove duplicate services, airfares will increase.
