Anywhere to Ireland
Tue, 01/03/2012 - 19:29
I’m planning on making a trip to Ireland, probably Dublin, next month. I can get to virtually any US city to start with for free, I just need to figure out which will be the cheapest to fly from. Anyone know of a fare search engine that will allow me to search US to Ireland instead of using a city?

Try http://www.skyscanne… You can start typing United States and the option will pop up, then Ireland as destination. Then choose to search the entire month of February. It looks like you can Newark or JFK to Dublin in the $440’s and Boston for $500.
I agree with augustin. Without even checking, I would have said New York (JFK or Newark) or BOS, followed by PHL and CHI (O’hare).
A quick look at ITASoftware confirms. $478 round trip total many dates in February, from Newark to Dublin on Continental. I guessed your stay at 7-14 nights (right?).
Next-cheapest currently for Feb. roundtrip… JFK with Delta at $482. Followed by BOS $521, then PHL $581, then CHI $608.

I pushed it some more, and found $448 JFK-DUB with Aer Lingus. 2/6-2/14 for example.
Thanks, that was pretty much what I was looking for. I was expecting the best to be from New York, seems to be.
There are many sites that you can use actualy. Nowadays it seems there are more flight booking sites than flights. I use yatra.com as I find the interface very good and it gives intelligent suggestions. You can use any site, but be sure that it is a good one that has many sites listed.
