I know that I can look up prices now but they seem a little higher than what they should be. I wanted to know if anyone had an estimate of a round trip ticket price from atlanta or anywhere in the area….birmingham, huntsville, chattanooga, etc to london or paris. I am working out a budget and needed to plug in the plane ticket price. I would be traveling in the spring….probably march, april at the latest. Thanks for they help.

You’re asking does anyone think sale fares for March/April will be cheaper than what’s currently offered for next March/April, right?

With fuel surcharges likely to increase, I doubt it. When oil was less than $40 per barrel, I think you could have done ATL-LON for $450 r/t all taxes and fees included in March. But now add another $80 (since Jan. 2007) new UK air tax, plus fuel surcharges of $130-$220 currently (and likely to rise) and you’re looking at minimum $560 r/t total, but $600+ is more likely.

I would use Farecompare.com for this. I set it to ATL-LON for you, and currently it shows $573 for Mar/Apr—so my estimate was pretty close. You can also sign up for fare alerts to your email while there. And, you can easily change cities if you click “modify search.”

Farecompare’s Top Deals page might also be helpful if you’re flexible about arrival airport.
