From Berlin to Paris in Two Weeks
Wed, 11/11/2009 - 01:25
Hello,
I’m planning to have a two-week vacation, starting off from Berlin to Paris – or Paris to Berlin. Here are the details: http://www.eurotrip….
It’s my first time to go to Europe, so what can you recommend?
Thanks!
I am leaving from Manila with $2000 for 15 days
Berlin, Bratislava, Vienna, Munich, Paris, Bruges, Amsterdam
Berlin, Bratislava, Vienna, Munich, Paris, Bruges, Amsterdam

Godiane, I like your destinations, but that sure is an awful lot of one nighters.
Seems overly ambitious to me.
Great choise.. I have heard that the train from Germany to Paris is a great way to travel.
Two weeks (14 days)- 4 days paris, 3 days berlin, 3 days amsterdam, 2 days brussels, 2 days whatever
your trip above doesn’t even include paris but Cil is right- there is too much there. You only have two weeks man, don’t try to do the world. In fact, I would say since it looks like you are flying into Berlin and ending there, do 2 weeks in Germany and that is it. There is plenty to see.
Don’t do one nighters- in practice, it is an idea many travelers have come to regret.

So you have 14 days in total:
Berlin: 3 nights
Vienna: 2 nights
Bratislava: skip it
Salzburg: skip it
Munich: 2 night
Strasbourg: skip it
Heidelberg: skip it
This way you have less cities and you might be able to visit Paris, Bruges and / or Amsterdam
Munich
I edited my plan since I thought my Mom doesn’t want to be inside a train for long hours. I already asked her about that, and she said it’s all right for her to sleep in a train.
How about three days in Berlin, three days in Heidelberg, and three days in Paris? I have 4 days free, so maybe we could visit nearby cities or tourist spots along the way.
Berlin, Bratislava, Vienna, Munich, Paris, Bruges, Amsterdam
@Bigfoot, thanks for the suggestion! I’ll take it from there.
Am now changing my itinerary.
Berlin, Bratislava, Vienna, Munich, Paris, Bruges, Amsterdam
How about this, 6 cities in 2 weeks?
Berlin – 3 nights
Vienna – 2 nights
Munich – 3 nights
Paris – 3 nights
Bruges – 2 nights
Amsterdam – 2 nights
I think this itinerary isn’t that crazy.
Berlin, Bratislava, Vienna, Munich, Paris, Bruges, Amsterdam
Is is still a lot but you will have some more diversity now. You could look for some low/fare airline tickets as well, that will save you some time. Especially from Berlin to Vienna, or from Munich to Paris.
Also on lufthansa.de there are often low fares when you book in advance.
Munich
The flights Bigfoot mentioned might help, but any flight takes 5 hours by the time you add getting to/from airports, check-in time, security time and flight time. A flight in the middle of the day will shoot the entire day for sightseeing. You’ve got an awful lot of time in-transit on this trip. An overnight train from Munich to Paris would also help a bit.
I’d skip Vienna unless you have some reason (like you want to go to the opera) for it. I think nearby Bratislava is a better visit. You could do one as a day trip from the other if you’ve got 2 full days.
Judging from what I read in Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia…., Bratislava is indeed more interesting, at least for me.
Might skip Vienna, or drop by Vienna en route to Munich.
Ah, what else? I decided to forego traveling by air, I’ll go for an overnight train instead.
Another question, what are the must-sees in each city?
Berlin – Bratislava – Munich – Paris – Bruges – Amsterdam
Thanks for the help!
Your tips have helped me a lot preparing for this trip.
Berlin, Bratislava, Vienna, Munich, Paris, Bruges, Amsterdam
The “must sees” are really up to you. You wouldn’t want a whole trip of just things other people find interesting, would you? Chances are, probably the REAL “must sees” in every city are things you’ve heard of already; everything else is just personal preference. For instance, if you manage to spend 3 days in Berlin without seeing the Brandenburg Gate, you should probably have your passport revoked
I’d just recommend perusing wikipedia like you’ve been doing, and maybe check a guidebook or two.
Reykjavik, Oslo, Bergen, Stavanger, Oslo, Stockholm, Berlin, Venice, Budapest, Braşov, Sighişoara, Vienna, Gimmelwald, Salzburg
