I was woundering what would be the best time to go to europe?I ask cause i am planning to go sep threw feb is this a bad time to go?The reason i chose september threw february is i want to go to oktoberfest and see the christmas markets and of course new years in paris.I plan on traveling between these events.what would be the biggest downside to going around this time?

I would take Fall/Winter over the summer. Cheaper flights, less tourists, but colder weather. Pick your poison

During the winter, it is obviously chilly, and visiting hours of various places might be reduced, or they might even be closed. But it is not so crowded—and definitely cheaper, as mim says.
I’ve never been gone more than 3 months at a time (and that was a long time ago.)
My favorite time is May, when the weather is decent but it’s not too crowded yet.
But I’ve had really nice visits in December, January, February and March—and even August.
Really depends on how much time you want to spend outside I guess? Or how much you dislike rain and cold? Cause if your like me you actually like the rain! Grew up in it, of course when your traveling it becomes increasingly difficult to dry out your stuff everyday… Also you can’t pack as light, well I guess you can but you might be miserable…
Probably late August if you want to stay out of tourist crows…

It doesn’t matter. Go have fun.
Eat the food, use the wrong verbs, and end up getting charged double.
Probably the obvious, not as good weather to experience the city in. Less backpackers to meet and the city may be a bit quieter (which can be good and bad).
Personally i prefer the boiling late July to August weather, but each to there own. Sure you will have a great time no matter what!

well i really hope i can see what i want and still have fun….the time im going is now sep22nd to feb 9th i will be in germany till nov czech, slovak, hungary, and romanian threw nov beggining dec.austria end of dec back to fams house for christmas and then france in jan…end of jan is ireland so anyone have been around any of these places these months
I personally feel Aug and Sept are the best months to see Europe where the days are not going to be washed up in rain.
Otherwise the best times to avoid the crowd and still enjoy the weather would be either End of April to the beginning of May or End of Aug to the middle of Sept.
I was in Paris (Winter 1997) the first time ever in history_ that they closed the Eiffel tower due to severe weather. It was just really cold. Don’t worry though. It opened the next day. You can take the elevator all the way to the top, and even use the bathroom and flush it all the way down.
I am pro September through February. Especially, with it being the OFF SEASON. Spend less money, wait in fewer lines, etc.
Let the euro take you further. It will cost less money to stay at hostels in the OFF SEASON.
Do it! Go in the OFF SEASON, you won’t regret it.
Departing for Italy on 09-30-08
