Hello all looking for some advise on what’s the cheapest way to get from Brussels to Manchester ? Flight or train – views / tips / advise sincerely appreciated ! travelling in the end of July 2012

Flying is definitely cheaper and probably a little faster. Check flights on http://www.skyscanne… and remember that Ryanair charges for using a credit card, checking a bag, etc. but it should still be a better deal than rail.
Normally, I’d say fly. But… Megabus just starting serving Brussels (and Paris and Amsterdam), so let’s check that out — if all you want is cheapest.
Looks like Megabus seats are £26 end of July, one-way Brussels to Manchester. However, of the 2 daily connections, you’re looking at 15-17 hours on a bus. Yikes!
I’m seeing flights with Ryanair from Charleroi to Manchester nonstop, most dates toward end of July, for £19 + fees. I’d much prefer that myself, even though I’m not a big fan of Ryanair. Mind the fees! Looks like 2 nonstop flights a day on this route.
