I’m planning a trip around Western Europe by rail next summer and plan to just take a small rucksack so that I can stop off in places along the way and just carry it around for a day.  I would be going for 3 weeks.  Has anyone done this, and do people think it is realistic?

It depends on what you’re planning on taking. Do you have a list? Would it all fit in a small backpack? You know, if you carry a large pack, you aren’t prevented from stopping off in places. Many if not most have train station lockers you can store your pack in.
