Hello,

My friends and I are heading to Europe for 24 days in May/June. It’s going to be pretty tight so we might be forced to eliminate one city from our trip. Right now we have Dublin, London, Paris, Amsterdam, Berlin, Munich, Zurich, Rome, and Barcelona. We have family in Munich and Zurich, so we obviously can not eliminate those two. Which one city would you take off if you absolutely had to??

We are three 24 year olds looking to take in the must-see sights and party pretty much as much as we can! Just to give you an idea of what we are looking for.

I am traveling for 24 days
I am leaving from Los Angeles with $2000 for 24 days
London, Amsterdam, Paris, Barcelona, Rome, Zürich, Passau, Munich, Dublin

Given your limited time and that you can’t eliminate Zurich, I’d go for a city that’s “out of the way” compared to the others. That would be Dublin, Barcelona or Rome. You’ll have the better part of a day involved in getting to any of these cities and the better part of another day getting from any of them to your next destination.

My vote would be for Dublin, but given your interest in partying others here will disagree. While I like Ireland, Dublin is “just another city” for me. You won’t have enough time to get out of Dublin and see Ireland, so I wouldn’t spend the time and money to get there.

Given your “only big cities” itinerary, I’d substitute just about “anywhere outside a big city” in Switzerland for Berne.

Thank you for your opinion. You guys have a great website here, I really appreciate all the help.

I think if we have to take a city away, it will end up being Dublin. I agree. We actually aren’t going to Berne. I just typed that in because I wasn’t sure what city my friend’s relative lived in, but he lives in Zurich, not Berne.

Augustin25- Haha. Well, in that case we won’t eliminate Barcelona! No, but seriously…We have heard way to many good things about the nightlife in Barcelona to not go there.

Dublin is okay, but unless you’re flying into there from Boston (which I actually wouldn’t recommend anyway) it is kind of out of the way, and a lot more “modern” than you might think. If all you’re looking to do is party though, you can really do that in any decent sized city in Europe Wink.

Another vote against Dublin here.

You guys are really getting me excited to go to Dublin! Wink Ha. Our problem was we jumped on the cheapest flight we could find, which was LAX into London and out of Dublin to LAX for only $787. We just heard about student universe and found a round trip to London for $713, so we are trying to change it and if we can then we will save Dublin for another time. I wish we would have discovered this site before we booked. Thanks for all the help!
