So i just stopped at my bank and they said they could get me euro’s for $1.47 usd per euro.  Now, ive heard that atm’s are the best way to go.  However, my bank will charge $5 usd per transaction and that will be on top of whatever the rate i can get from an atm + the atm fee from the german bank.  What do you guys suggest.

Unless you suggest otherwise, i was thinking of taking a couple hundred euro with me and relying on the atms while i am there.

Thanks in advance.

I have an account with Chase… and thank GOD they don’t charge me.  I just go there a couple days in advance and they order them for free.  They even give me the exact exchange rate.  I’m going on Friday to order them since i get paid.

Now i’m not sure how much to bring with me to have on hand… i was going to just get around 200 euros,... u know i don’t want to get robbed and all [Wink]

If you had a chase near by… maybe you can just open a savings there in order to get the money… it’s worth a shot.  Other wise if u want to switch checking accounts, lol i can get $25 by referring you [Wink] You actually get $75 or 100 or something i think for opening a new checking there… anyway i don’t work for chase…. i was just saying it might be an option for your euros and for some extra spending money while you’re there

it all depends on how big a booze hound you are… i know personally i will drink anywhere between 9-12 mass, per day (i’ve averaged 11 for the last 3 years, granted i’m drinking straight from 10:00am-10:30pm).... but 7,20 per mass= about $9.00…. plus $10.00 hendel (chicken) twice a day, i’m spending about $150 USD per day after bier, food, tips, the occasional mass for someone else, rides and cigarettes…. mabe even more hahaha

So after my tent reservations, my ticket to salzburg, my bike tour to cinderella’s castle, I should be left with $330 euros.  Do you guys think this will be enough for 6 days well really 5 days because i’m leaving on he 6th day. I could give myself a little more money but i’m trying to be conservative here. I haven’t been to europe in 2 years especially not when the dollar was so bad. This will be like $66 euros/day

keep in mind that my tent stay (www.the-tent.com) offers 2 euro breakfast lol…. i just want to make sure i’m being realistic here.

always bring more than you think you will need, or at least have access to more.  I dont leave my house without a debit card.

Well of course i’ll have my debit card on hand, but i’m trying to come up with a goal limit so i don’t go over.  I’d like to be able to pay my mortgage when I get back you know [Wink]
