I go back to visit once/twice a year….usually March or October also went May/June 2 years ago…I paid $575 March 2009…$795 October 2009 (most I have ever paid) go for a week or so and can leave return any day…have been checking for anytime this year …Cheapest I have found in the region of $1400….what happened?

“What happened?” Reduced capacity—i.e. fewer seats—and more travelers from Europe taking up the available transatlantic seats, with the Euro and Pound still very strong against the US Dollar. At least this is what I’ve been reading. Fuel prices aren’t super cheap right now, either.

Definitely sign up for sale alerts on this route with Farecompare and Bing. Also try the tips and strategies in our new user thread. Are you checking from YYZ and to BHX in the mix—if you’re that flexible?

Quick look at published fares offered right now:
March $573 if outbound by March 2 on American DTW-MAN
May $889 Usair DTW-MAN ($637 YYZ-BHX)
October $848 DTW-MAN British Airways

You might do better with a consolidator, however. There are some listed in our new user thread (top of this forum). Aggregators Cfares, Mobissimo, and Travelgrove also include some consolidators in their airfare searches.

If seriously considering Toronto, be sure to check www.canadian-affair…. and consolidator FlightNetwork.com.
