Don, got any tricks up your sleeve for this one?

I found a globespan flight to europe for under $200, but the cheapest I can find to get back is over $300.  So I’m trying to find a one way from anywhere in Europe to anywhere in US for about $250 (including tax/fees).  Would like to get back about the first week in Nov, but its flexible.
Know of anything like that?  No rush.

I remember there a small company that flew Spain-US with cheap single tickets, but I cant remember the name of them.  ??

That was Air Europa and Air Plus Comet. Sadly, neither of them are on Spain-US routes any longer….

I went to ITA, logged in as guest.

Selected “Month Long”
then “One-Way”

and searched from LON;MAN;DUB;SNN;BFS … all UK/Eir to NYC;BOSHL;CHI;WAS;ATL;MIA … all eastern gateways.

Result: $280 USAir from Dublin to LaGuardia or Boston (via PHL, btw)

Then from Portugal/Spain/France gateways to same…
$352 Lisbon to Boston on SATA via PDL (Ponta Delgada, Azores)

… from NL, BE, DK, SE, NO, FI…
$375 from somewhere. ITA crapped out on me (timed out) as it’s prone to do….

Give ITA a try, but it’ll be hard to beat $280 from Dublin, especially with all the low-fare air service to get you there.

————- updated
It’s working again… sort of. $253 from somewhere in Germany. Timed out… again.

other ideas:
www.flyzoom.com Gatwick-Kennedy £179 one-way total, about $350 currently.
www.ltu.com Dusseldorf-Kennedy €199 one-way total, about $267 currently.

—— more

Eurofly, Rome-JFK $279
Qatar Airways, Geneva-Newark $365

If interested…
www.canadian-affair….
Gatwick-Toronto £119 on 13 Nov (aboot $235 USD) …
but probably only cost-effective if you live near Detroit or Buffalo, or could travel onward cheaply from there, or if you wanted to visit Toronto anyway.

I suppose I could get a bus from Toronto to Buffalo and from there a oneway to MSY is only $93.  Pieceing all of the flights together, starting from MSY or BTR and getting to UK/Europe and back, total cost is $640.  Thats still a little more than I’m hopeing to spend.

But the cheapest I’ve found anywhere else (ita, expedia, yahoo) is in the low $700s.  I’m not sure if its worth pieceing together or not, miss a single flight and i’m SOL, but I would get to spend a day or so in a few new cities that I’ve never been to.

I think I’ll wait around a little longer to see if the big companies drop their r/t prices.

So what you really needed is a round trip ticket from New Orleans to anywhere Europe, and back mid-Nov. for under $600. Is that correct? If so, when do you need to leave N.O.? Any places in Europe that will not work for you?

Well what I really want is to get from N.O. (or Baton Rouge) into T’bilisi or Baku and back for as cheap as possible.  Leaving about the beginning of Oct, staying about a month, pretty flexible.

After countless searching I’m quite sure that the cheapest flights in/out of those countries is with Airbaltic via Riga.  Or if I could get to Istanbul cheaply, then get a flight from there to eastern Turkey and cross the border by land, but that seems time consuming and I have to buy a multiple entry Turkey visa.

Its just one of those things that requires a lot of searching and comparing, and my inspiration to do so is sparatic.

I used ITA from MSY;BTR to Tbilisi;Baku;IST;RIX = 780 IST Delta/Air France, Oct1-Nov1. Mobissimo found Baku ($1400 Cheaptickets) and Tblisi ($1100 Airfare.com) from MSY.

While it looks like splitting the trip into cheaper tickets will be cheaper than 1100, sub-600 might be an unreasonable expectation.

I do like the idea of going via RIX; not many would have thought of that. Also, I have seen good fares to Kiev sometimes using Farecompare’s map search—maybe give that a try. I mention this because I saw Kiev as a scheduled destination from TIA; if that hop is cheap, maybe worth going via Kiev is what I meant.

I know people who used to live in Baku and really enjoyed the experience and culture.
