easyjet to become "icy-jet"?
Wed, 10/26/2005 - 07:18
Iceland’s FL Group, which owns Icelandair and just purchased the new Sterling/Maersk group earlier this week, has increased it’s shares of easyJet to 15%. www.boarding.no/art…. (sorry, can only find this in Norwegian) Sterling purchased Maersk Air in recent months and merged operations under the name Sterling to become Europe’s 4th largest low-cost airline.
IMHO, these moves just increase potential for more low-fare transatlantic service which readers of this forum are very keen to see. ![]()

I think it’s First Air (op for Lufthansa) that have 738s already flying JFK to Düsseldorf, albeit with only about 50 bizclass seats. With a full pax load, and each with 50+ lbs. of luggage, I dunno if it would make the trip without additional fuel capacity. However with a stop at KEF, seems like a lot more airports could be served with a 738.
Privitair flies dus-ewr with a 738(retrofitted BBJ) and muc-ewr with an A320…I had a chance to fly that last year on a award ticket but forgot about the flights and ended up in SK business instead…I know it couldnt make it without the kef stop

Update: Stelios upping defense against bid from Icelandair group?

The 738 is nice, but damn, I don’t think I’d want to go that far on one!
Well considering the 738 could go 3025 NM and it is only 2500 NM jfk-kef I wouldnt be surprised to see it if easy jet became icy jet.Not to say I would be happy to fly on it!
