I have looked through the How To’s and didn’t see anything—I think the value is much like the typical internet ranking system: rather intangible.
Even in the old Eurotrip, there was always some sort of seniority system going on.
How meaningful that was, and how meaningful the points are now, well, it eludes me.
I do know that someone like Oldlady has a lot of points, and that the advice she gives is very valuable.
If there is more to the points than what I have stated, maybe Swill or someone else will correct me.
Eurotrip Points measure how long the poster has been active on the Eurotrip forums and might be used by the casual reader to determine the probable quality of the information provided.
One should be able to expect the information provided by much-traveled members to be complete, reliable and current.
I have visited and traveled thru much of Western Europe and Morocco, but I refrain from posting info about places I haven’t visited in the last 10-years.
A curious mix: I am most familiar with the Irish Republic, Portugal, and Spain. I usually limit my replies to subjects concerning those Countries, although I have been known to add Morocco, if I think it is appropriate
This has been asked a few times and there is a thread in the FAQ that explains it.
