Here is a breakdown of the Eurotrip Token valuation for creating content on eurotrip.com.
Creating a Travelogue Entry: 5
Creating a Directory Link: 5
Creating a Places & Events: 10
Creating a Travel Tip: 5
Creating a User Profile: 10 (limited to once)
Creating a Forum Topic: 1
Adding a Comment: 1
Writing a Review: 10

These values are subject to change as we see fit in an attempt to be fair to the community and to offer incentives for using the different functionality.
All aspects regarding the redemption of Eurotrip Tokens have not been finalized.
If the content that you created is removed, the points you received for that piece of content will also be removed.
When I edit a post it says that I gained a point and then lost one. What is happening?
This is because we ‘can’ give points for editing content, but we are not using that feature. Basically, you should not be getting or loosing any points for editing content. Unfortunately the notification for that functionality is confusing. I will look into trying to make it clearer.
The long and the short of it is that you have the same number of points before and after you make the edit. The notification is confusing, but is basically saying that your points did not change.

What do we do with these tokens?

At the base level, this is a replacement of the normal ‘posts’ or ‘reputation’ numbers in most forums. The reason we are not just using posts is because we want to reward the use of the whole site and not just the forum (travelogues, favorite places, tips, eurotrips, etc…).
I have been really busy with the Trip Planner and Hostels recently, so I have not had time to revisit this. The plan is to offer discounts on things such as hostels and rail passes based on the number of Eurotrip Points a user has. Unfortunately this is not trivial for me to implement, so it has been put on the back burner until we have the technology caught up to our dreams.
The good thing is that you are already collecting Eurotrip Points, so as soon as we start giving stuff away based on points you will be ahead of the game.

Well to be honest I would make it something on the forefront because I think it would def. keep people coming back and using the site.

once we have the ability to give you savings based on your points, then we will make it more front and center. for now they do not add all that much value, so i have not been pushing them much…

I really like the points idea. Even though there is no real use for them as of yet. It’s a good program/incentive to get people to come. I came to the site since it was a link. The points got me to stay, even though I didn’t even know I was getting them until after I started. Lol!
