Alright everyone name a place country, city, etc… and the food you ate. What its called and what it is. Maybe a beer that went well with it? Or a glass of wine?
Is it allowed to take part in this little poll although I am a local []
Okay, let’s start:
Germany, Berlin: currywurst.
It’s kind of a bratwurst (fried sausage) but with special spices and if you come to Berlin you have to try it. Note there is a little “fight” between Berlin and the region around cologne about the origin and the most delicious currywurst. But of course you can get the best one here in Berlin.
Currywurst is delicious—those flavors sound wacky but they work together well.
Gyros in Greece always satisfies.
Insalata Caprese in the Sorrento peninsula region is well worth experiencing.
On a hot summer evening, it is filling and refreshing.
After dinner, you might want to sip some limoncello, but a little of that goes a long way for me.[]
One meal that comes to mind that I loved in Brugge (Belgium): waterzooi (a Flemish stew with fish or chicken, potatoes, leeks, carrots, cream, egg yolk) and Kriekbier (cherry beer). I liked it so much I had this two nights in a row!
Madrid…. paella. I can’t stop eating it. I tried to cook it, but it’s different when you eat it in Spain. I think they have a secret ingredients or something.
Morocco.. I cant remember the names but all of them were great… They have a special yellowish spice which is added in almost all foods… I think thats the secret…

Probably saffron (or turmeric). I agree though, the tagines are great.

All the varieties of free tapas in Granada, Spain washed down with a cold glass of Al Hambra beer. mmmmmm.

Bograc.
Gulash like stew from Slovenia. When you’re around try some at Stari Tisler near the trainstation in Ljubljana.

Just a thought. I mean, pizza came from Italy, right? Can you still consider it authentic when you ate it there?

Everything tastes better when it’s cooked by locals for locals from fresh ingredients and with great care.
