Festival's in Europe
Sun, 01/21/2007 - 00:37
I’m wondering what major festivals are held throughout Europe between Januray and April.
Are there any major ones? I know all the good ones like Oktoberfest, La Tomatina, Running of the bulls, etc. are held in the summer and early fall, but are there any though the winter?
I’m interested in any region of Europe. Thanks![

This might yield something.
Yeah, Cil that’s where I checked first. I’m just being lazy, and taking the easy way out. There aren’t any major festivals that come to mind that time of year, and I thought maybe someone knew of some. Thanks though!![

Isn’t there some sort of Mardi Gras celebration in Nice (or the French Riviera in general)?
What about Carnival in Venice (or elsewhere)?
I know that there are a number of winter film festivals in Europe, but that might not be your cup of tea.
Ahhh, Carnival in Venice, I forgot about that. I think it’s in February right?
Yes!

Thanks mim. It might be a good idea to add all the major European festivals into the calendar.
Earlier (late February) there’s Carnaval – Cadiz is the place with the biggest mainland Spain celebration. I think Fasching – Muenchen is during that same week
Not really what you would call ‘festivals,’ but Semana Santa will be the first week of April followed around two weeks later by Sevilla’s Feria de abril.
lol: 3 February is potato day in England… woohoo!
Thanks Ned, and thanks to you too Rob[
