First Timer to Europe
Tue, 09/15/2009 - 02:44
Hello! Im a first timer to Europe this October and worried that I may have gone overboard with this initial itinerary. I need your honest direct feedback, please! This is the week I finalize my hostel accommodation and Eurostar/Eurail Pass. This is my IT:
London (18 – 22)
Paris (23 – 27)
Brussels (28 – 30) (pending plans of day trips to Luxembourg and Cologne/Dusseldorf)
Amsterdam (31 – 2)
Questions:
1. Will I be spreading myself miserably for this Itinerary?
2. Should I shorten stays in London&Paris and alot some more time in Brussels (and those pending day trip cities) and Amsterdam?
3. OR Drop Cologne/Dusseldorf altogether and focus on BENELUX after Paris&London?
Thanks to you All!
Alan

I would forget about Dusseldorf for this trip, and possibly Luxembourg as well. Don’t take my advice too seriously because I have never been to either. However I hear that Dusseldorf is uninteresting if you are not into fashion or expensive shopping, and Luxemburg is just pretty boring overall and nothing special to see.

I don’t think that you are going overboard with this itinerary. I liked Paris and London, but I had a lot of fun in Belgium. Maybe you can drop a few days from Paris and London, and stop by one of the other cool places in Belgium… Bruges, Gent, or Antwerp.

I appreciate your advice. My friend and I might consider a day trip to Luxembourg from Brussels.

Hey Thanks for your advice. Tomorrow I’ll reserve all my hostel accomdations.

Depending on how busy it is then you might not want to book all of your hostels right away. Make sure to book your hostel for the first few days, but you might want to keep some of your options open. Keep an open mind, and see how you feel… you might have booked a place for 3-4 days, but when you get there it’s not really your cup of tea.
