Hey all!

I paid for a ticket yesterday for a friend. We realized this morning that the return flight was going from Barcelona to London heathrow but the flight change back to JFK is at Londong Gatwick.

Any chance that someone know where I can find the info for connecting Heathrow to Gatwick? A website direction would be great. I’m assuming there’s a bus, train, shuttle of some sort. He has 4 hours to make the connection so we’re not crazy worried. Thanks.

I assume this will be with British Airways? If so, see www.britishairways.c… Looks like you’ll have to pay 17 Pounds, fetch baggage and take it on the bus journey, and re-check it at Gatwick.

Personally, I think this is wrong—unless BA is really clear (as in bold type of required connection times, bus instructions and fees) during the booking process. If they’re clear about it, then a customer has a choice to deal with the hassles or not.

Be aware that 4 hours is not always enough time to make this connection, particularly if traffic is congested. Because you purchased it all on one ticket, you should be protected for a later flight. The problem is if there are no flights back to New York that night.

So when your friend lands at Gatwick, he should try to be as quick as possible and hope for the best.

I attached the flight details. Well I guess it’s our fault that we’re in this jam but usually they tell you that you have to change airport on the booking page but it didn’t say that. No wonder the flight was cheaper than the others. So I’m guessing there’s no other way to get from Gatwick to Heathrow except by bus. Any other options? Trains, cab? How much is that? Oh and he’ll have to have pounds in hand for the fare right? Thanks again.

I don’t know that a cab would be quicker, and I’d only choose cab if the flight got in late to Heathrow, and/or if baggage fetching and customs took a long time. I’ve taken a cab from Gatwick to Stansted (courtesy of Continental) but that’s been 5-6 years ago, and then it was 110 GBP + tip.

Thanks guys,

I looked into it and found some answers. He’ll have to take the bus for some 19 pounds. He’ll have currency in hand just to make sure. Thanks for the help.

I havn’t taken that inter airport in a while, however there are trains from Gatwick to Victoria in London both express and local.
Takes you about 30-45 minutes depending upon the day.
From Victoria or waterloo catch the train to Heathrow again both express and local. Takes you an hour.

In between catching a meal and a drink, I think 4 hours is enough in between airports.

Both of them one way is about 14.50 GBP on express but local will be cheap

Surely it must be much more now.
