That’s a pretty good fare for the true summer season, especially considering that you’re staying longer than 30 days. I think we’ll be seeing some good sales popping up between now and mid-April – last year I got in on an April U.S. Air sale and flew SFO-Frankfurt for $600 in August. That said, there certainly is no guarantee you’ll find something cheaper, and you could end up paying more that the $717 you found. It may also be particularly difficult to find a sale that allows stays longer than 30 days. If you choose to wait and see if you can find something cheaper be vigilante in checking fares and sign up for fare alerts from various websites. These sales sometimes last just hours.

Two questions for you: what airport in CA, and have you looked at open-jaw fares?

Pretty much any airport between SF and LA areas is ok with me! It seems like SFO and LAX get the best fares? But I could be at either one the day before. I have not looked at open-jaw fares – will look up what that is right now! =)

PS – the over 30 days stay is not set in stone – the trip planned is just a very very rough outline. Actually most date combinations we looked at seem to be just about 29 days.

Ok. I check SFO fares all the time, and typically if I see a sale somewhere I start checking LAX fares as well and post here. People often post those short-lived fares here, so keep your eyes peeled

717 is very good for anywhere CA to anywhere Europe in summer. Where did you find that? Best I’m seeing is $825 with tax.

Like augustin said, it could drop a slight bit, or it could go up much much more. $1000 is typical for summer, even more from west coast.

If you are diligent, sign up for alerts, and a little bit lucky, you might find something $100 less, but it’s equally likely to go up.

Don, I see SFO-DUB 6/18-7/14 or 15 for $713-715 on Air France, Delta, and U.S. Air.

Yeh, I see $640 with ITA, but for departures by June 9. I tried Orbitz’s flex-search and got $724 with AF/DL (june18\july16 btw), but ITA wasn’t showing anything in the 713-715 range for me. It was showing midweek from mid-June on at $812 r/t total. Strange…. Hoping ITA aren’t starting using cookies.

Yup! We ended up buying 2 tickets to Dublin from SFO. The dates are 6/30-7/29 and were 645 each. We saw cheaper – at one time we could have gotten them for 540 with Delta, but that ended quickly. So 645 wasn’t the cheapest, but works out ok with our budget. I think we found this one over at Farecast. Thanks so much for the help from everyone at Eurotrip – we would have really over payed with out it!

Also – the flight has one layover, operated by US Airways and AA.
