German Oktoberfest vs Kitchener Oktoberfest
Fri, 06/22/2007 - 10:45
For anyone whose familiar with Kitchener’s (Canada’s largest German population) Oktoberfest, how does it compare to the real thing? Is it the same thing w/o the crowd, or are we missing out by not going to Munich?

Kitchener, ONT and Cincinnati, OH each have pretty good replica’s of the real Oktoberfest in Munchen. However, the Munchener Fest has been happening since 1810, and they draw 6.2 to 7.0 million people each year. The other two aforementioned fests are decent, but on a smaller scale. They draw a combined 2 mil.

Besides the crowds, is there any reason to fly to Munich instead of driving down to Kitchener? Or, it-and-of itself, are they pretty much the same?
In Ontario; you will see a handful of Americans, and a large number of Canadians. In Munchen; you will meet-up with MANY Aussies, Italians, Eastern Europeans, Irish, English, Canadians, kiwi’s, and people from all over Western Europe, etc… A bit more culturally diverse.. Also, I do like Canadian Bier, but the Germans have been making good bier for alot longer period of time!
