Hi, il be heading to Europe in a week and a half and plan to be there for the running of the bulls. I just had a question about getting to Pamplona. I’ll be staying in Amsterdam till the 5th and would like to be at the Eurotrip meeting at 6pm on the 6th. Just wondering what would be the best way to get there.

I was planning on taking the train from Amsterdam to Paris on the 5th and maybe catching the sleeper from Paris to Barcelona that night. Then on the 6th taking an early train from Barcelona to Pamplona. However I was wondering if the train from Barcelona to Pamplona is going to be too booked up that day. So bassically what im asking is if anyone can recomend a better route or if the one I had was fine. Thanks

I found the coach routes to be cheaper, faster and more available than the train system in spain. You could catch the bus at the barcelona nord station and go to pamplona with a changeover in zaragosa. The trip takes about 5.5hrs if I remember correctly. Definitely plan ahead though. Check out www.movelia.es for bus info. Good luck

Other suggestions:

The train from Barcelona to Pamplona is filling up fast.

There are only 3 times (7:30am, 12:30pm, and sometime around 11pm)

For train reservations, go to www.raileurope.com, and actually call them to make the reservation (website having issues)

If you do decide to go with the train over the coach, book this first before any other plans as its getting sold out very quickly.

As for coming down from Amsterdam, depending on how much money you’re willing to spend, you can actually catch a flight directly from Amsterdam to Barcelona early on the 5th and then catch an overnight train on the 5th from Barcelona to Pamplona because even the 12:30pm train gets you into Pamplona at 6:30pm the same day.

As for flights, I personally was able to get a flight from Barcelona to Lisbon and back for $100 USD. You could get even cheaper flights from AMS.

Just suggestions.

Thanks for the suggestions. Except im having problems finding the phone number on the website. I tried the EUrail.com site too and failed to find it there as well. Then I looked through all the information I had ben sent with my railpass and couldnt find a direct Eurail phonumber either. Do I need to call one of the aid offices for reservations?

Problems, I tried booking the train form Barcelona to Pamplona at 7:30am but the guy on the phone said it wouldnt work for some reason. He said that since he couldnt reserve it somehow, my best bet would be to book it while im in barcelona on the 5th. Guess il try that or possibly just get a bus ticket.

oh well i also purchased the 12:30 tickets. you know, when in barcelona, with the night life and all, you dont want to take a train out of there at 7:00am.
