Grid lines
Thu, 05/15/2008 - 13:58
I agree with another post. Lines separating the forums on the forum page and lines to separate the posts. Maybe make some of the blue shades on the page a warmer shade.
Eat the food, use the wrong verbs, and end up getting charged double.

And lines to separate posts in My Contributions.

I have done this, let me know what you think…

You’ve got the grid lines down and they look great on both pages so I assume you want color clarification. European Travel, Festivals, etc. have a light blue background. I was thinking of a more friendly/warmer color as the background to bring attention to the titles. Questions? You should have my email.

More line and signature stuff. Look at my first two posts. The signature rises up from the bottom of the textbox. I was thinking that the signature should be locked to the bottom of the text box with a solid line above it. The solid line could have some space at the end, 1/2 – 1/2 inch, to show that it belongs in the post but is not part of the post.

And just noticed, the afore mentioned lines show in Firefox but not Explorer???
And the lines that separate the forum options on the dropdown menu are solid on Explorer and dashed on Firefox.

i have changed the color of the forum headers from the grey to a blue.
i have changed the sig line to be solid and to stretch all the way across the box regardless of how much text is entered.
it is not trivial to put it at the bottom of the box due to the way it is added and the structure of the page (ie – floats and where the sig code is). we may just have to live with that one.
i have fixed the IE6 and IE7 versions so they now show the grid lines on the forum. thanks for pointing that out.
the dropdown menu is styled to have a dashed line, but IE has issues with that. not really sure what the best looking style for the drop down would be, that was just my initial code and i haven’t thought of a better look for it yet. if you have ideas, let me know…

Thanks for trying the changes. It all looks great including the lines on IE.

i realized that the ‘My Contributions’ section of the profile did not have lines in IE, so i have added them. i have also cleaned up that table a little so it doesn’t look quite so drab.
