Any ideas? Leiden has a huge student population and is a historic old city so I’d figured there’d be a few hostels there, but so far all I can find is expensive hotels! I appreciate any help…

Well the Flying Pig Beach Hostel is close by to Leiden…
You take the bus there and its 10-30 min away I believe
I can’t be too specific though because I was flying high on some mighty fine chronic the whole time Smile

Haha yeah I bet

I’ve actually changed my plans as a result of not being able to find anything in the area. It is baffling to me how there isn’t anything within the city of Leiden. I almost stayed in Utrecht, but then everything was all booked up already, and I had no desire to stay in Amsterdam whatsoever.

I really liked Leiden on the daytrip I made there. Here’s a long shot – check to see if the universities ever rent out rooms to visitors. I suspect not, but who knows.

den Haag is on the same train route and would be 20-30 minutes away, I think, and it’s also a really great city. I see there’s a stayokay den Haag, but I’m not sure how well it’s situated.
