How many cities are ideal in a 2 month trip?
Sat, 06/13/2009 - 09:42
I’m starting my planning for Europe now and I don’t want to pick too many cities. What is an ideal amount of cities when traveling in the Spain-France-Germany-Italy area of Europe? Should I hit all the major cities? Do you know of any minor cities that would be better to visit in any of these places? How long should I spend in each city?
Also, you think a final detour to Russia would be worth it for this trip?

It depends. Plan on seeing about 2 cities per week, but that is just a very rough guideline. Sometimes you’ll see 4 cities in a week. That’s just too tough to answer. Work up an itinerary and then we will help you make it more realistic. There are a lot of other people on the message boards who ask questions about their own itineraries and I suggest you look at those and then see what others here said about them. Major cities vs. small towns is completely up to you. Get a “Let’s Go Europe” book or any one of the dozens that exist and see which cities/towns interest you most. We can’t really recommend anywhere without knowing what you’re interested in (history, architecture, culture, food, partying, etc.).
No, Russia is too far out of the way so skip it.
Ok, that’s very helpful. I’ll work up an itenary, but are there any cities that i should really look into to go to with alot of history and culture. i assume partying will be heavy in any major city like Barcelona or Berlin.
