Have finally nailed down the dates for a trip to Italy and would appreciate some insight/help with a good flight deal. These dates are pretty much set in stone.

Outbound, October 26, Return November 10
DSM to Rome, Florence, Venice or Pisa.
Round trip, or return from another of the above 4 cities — open jaw preferable
Would also consider departure/return to Minneapolis, Omaha, Kansas City, but have not found any of those to be cheaper than DSM. Chicago would be a possibility if there was a really good deal and involved non-stop or possibly 1 stop flights.
Prefer no more than 2 stops each way and will not consider flights that require an extra day in transit either way.

Best I found on Kayak was $1145 into Rome out of Florence on US Air/Luftansa.

Have also checked some of the Turkish Air deals that show up on Airfare Watchdog, but the Extra overnight in Istanbul (much as I love it) each way is a deal buster.

Thanks for any help!

I’d sign up for fare alerts with Farecompare and Bing, and also keep monitoring fares yourself 1-2 times per week. The “sweet spot” for off-season international, according to the way data has been interpreted in media recently, is about 5-7 weeks in advance. However, I know that the best price could pop up almost any time these days; thus the fare alerts + your own checking 1/2x per week.

Quick check with some multi-city aggregators did not turn up anything better than what Kayak found for you. I think it’s probably a bit early, though.

Thanks. Prices have gone up about $35 per ticket since I found this, so it’s kind of nerve racking to wait.

check with skyscanner and kayak. also you should use the incognito browser with google chrome because ive heard that airlines install cookies which track your price watching..and so the price you see increases with that.
