I get this error message when I try to log in:

The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading.

Try again in a few moments. * If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer’s network connection. * If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.I get this all the time — usually at least once every time I’m signed in. I also frequently get the “timed out” on log-in. It doesn’t seem to matter which computer or what type of internet connection, so I assume it’s a site problem.
I just logged in with explorer and it didn’t happen.

I haven’t had a problem for a couple of days. On at least one occasion I tried explorer and timed out on that, too. I seem to have the problem most frequently when I go to the “moderator” forum or do moderator things like editing or deleting somebody else’s post.
Ya, I need to revisit the permissions considerations. Because you guys are both moderators and have more permissions than most, the application does a lot of additional calculations and it slows things down for you. I have been having trouble getting back to the performance problems because I have had a lot on my plate. I will put it on my list and will try to address it asap. Thanks for letting me know…

I end up being logged in even though I get the loading error message and can’t get to the site. Then when I finally get logged in, I end up on the “additional permissions” page and it takes even longer — and, like right now, I’m logged in twice. I think it is better with Explorer although I timed out on that today, too.
Wow, I did not realize it was that bad. It is slow for me now and then, but I have not had that many issues. I will have to try to put some more time into this…
Thanks for letting me know you are having these issues so I can look into them…

I’ve noticed Explorer issues, too. I log in and get the error message. I can back page once and go from there. It’s also pretty slow with the log in.

Ya I know the login page is slow. I think most of the problems that you guys are having in this thread steams specifically from that slow login page. That is not, however, the only slow page on the site (the Forum front page is still painfully slow as well).

I’m using the centOS that you told me about and haven’t had any log in issues.

I still have problems logging in fairly often. I usually have to use the “reload current page” arrow in the toolbar a couple of times to get logged in. I occasionally time out when I submit a post — usually it will finally post after a couple of tries if I use the reload arrow on the toolbar. Hitting “re-try” in the error box usually doesn’t work at all to log in. It occasionally works when submitting a post, but it seems to create a double post when it does.
Me, too. I can boot to centOS on my USB drive and use firefox with no trouble whatsoever. It must be a windows issue.
