Only thing I see currently that might help you is Iceland Express. LGW-EWR $263.50 on Sept. 1, one-way. Lastminute.com shows it £167.

Then of course you could do NYC-LON one-way when you’re ready to return. Momondo.com is finding pretty good fares for this, such as Iceland Express (again) for $247 on Sept. 28 for example, or Virgin from JFK or EWR to LHR for $301 same date.

JFK 30th-30th nonstops: I see Delta now at $657; American $675; BA $705.

I am deliberately trying to leave late as I was hoping to get a really reasonable deal. I am still hoping to get around 500 USD as I am only trying to take a much needed break and see my family.

Its the end of the summer and the prices from London to Newark has not seen any significant reduction.

Just booked Virgin for 370 Rtn and I am surprised even after the summer holidays, the prices are still expensive.

Prices do seem stubborn currently. Fuel is not cheap, seasonal capacity has dropped, and flights are flying fuller.

Called Virgin direct. However, I have decided to use a little bit of miles so the price though dropping to 320.00 which is not too much, the penalty for changing drops significantly. I am booked but also noticed I can get cheaper tickets through KLM.
So calling KLM now.

If I didn’t use my miles, then the penalty for changes would have been 250 GBP. I know for sure 100%, I will be changing my dates as I have always changed my dates specially in my UK trip.

Now that I am using my miles the penalty is only 50 GBP.

I just made a call to check the amount of luggage I can take, I was just informed that the policies have changed for Virgin.
I am only allowed 1 luggage of 23 KG.
Anything else would cost me 40 GBP upto 10 bags.

Only 1 handbag is allowed.
Has anyone of this? This sucks and they say all airlines are doing the same.
