I was wondering how do you make a reservation on banh.de website?

I don’t think you can make “just a reservation” on Bahn.de. If you’re buying a ticket for a specific train (specific date and time) it will include the reservation if it’s required.

In fact when you go through the booking process (that is after you create an account) an option to purchase “reservation only” may come up. Also even when reservation is not required you may be given an option to purchase a seat reservation for a small fee.

However the option to buy “reservation only” is available for some trains but not for other, and so far I could not figure out the pattern.

Yea the reservation option only comes up on some routes…not sure how it works either. Can you make reservations for trains on the mainland at UK train stations? Also can you make reservations for other people, or do you have to be present at the station and show identification?

Is there a reason you need to make these reservations before you get to continental Europe?

I doubt you can make reservations for European trains at any UK train station, but you probably can make them at the Euraide offices. The two in UK (pasted from www.eurail.com ):

* German Rail UK Booking Centre (Surbiton) London German Rail UK Booking Centre P.O. Box 687 A Surbiton KT6 6 UB Tel: 08718 808 066 Mon-Fri: 9.00 a.m. – 5.00 p.m. * Rail Europe Travel Centre 1 Regent Street London SW1 Weekdays: 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. Saturdays: 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

You should be able to buy a reservation for someone else. I don’t recall being asked for ID, railpass or anything.
