Missing US student in Thailand

I apologize that this doesn’t have to do with fun travel, but I thought since many people here travel all over the world, there might be someone one of you knows who lives in or travels to Thailand frequently.
Michael Harrie is a 29 year old veterinary medicine student at Auburn University where I went to college. He is the boyfriend of a good friend of mine so this is very personal to me. He was studying abroad in Japan and took a week long trip to Thailand for sightseeing. There has been no sightings of him since July 14. Yeah he contacted his family after about 3-4 weeks saying that he was fine.
Apparently he just needed a break from the world or something. And he acted like nothing was wrong when he got back. I dunno, my friend (who was dating him at the time) says she thought maybe he was bipolar or something.
