MTV Europe
Fri, 04/20/2007 - 12:49
Hi there. I was at a bookstore yesterday and quickly browsed through the MTV Europe Book. I’ve only looked up info on Ibiza, and was impressed with the detail that it went to. Has anybody used this book in their trips and how does it compare to Lets Go for example. thnx

Oh geesh. Does Ozzy do the Birmingham section? I’ve not seen it. My guess is they’ve bought from another publisher to repackage as MTV guides, but that’s just a guess.

The MTV guides are in a collaboration between Frommer’s and MTV.
They are fairly new, I think the first was out in December? I have not seen them yet. They are targetted at those young travellers whose priority is to party. Night life scene changes so quickly, I think it’s hard to capture it in an guidebook that takes several months (minimum) to publish. You are better off talking to locals and checking out the local city events guides.
Also ,I don’t think either Frommer’s or MTV have a clue what is “in”. And this has to be Frommer’s 2nd or 3rd attempt at the younger market.
But of course, I am hardly their target audience. If I want to party hard, I will do it closer to home where I know people who could bail me out or fish me out of the gutters in the morning.
Hey Mirmensh
I personally looked through the book for about 30mins and compared it to the “Lets Go” book. I felt that yes it definitely appeals so the younger traveler so being 27 I found it was perfect for me. Not only does it tell you where to party it ALSO has tones of other useful information! Not just pubs and clubs but everything. It is a collaboration with Frommer’s, and even tho the regular Frommers book seemed to be geared toward the older demographic I feel they NAILED the younger demographic with this book.
Its all up to you in the end, but I bought it and have been reading through it. Cant wait to bust it out on my trip!
