We are on the road again!!! Italy stole our heart the last time and we are heading back , this time to the south  , we are thinking of flying into Naples  , staying for a few days then moving on . Reading travel books they do not paint a nice picture of Naples words like – dangerous , mafia , NOT SAFE ANYWHERE AT NIGHT?? . Would 3 days be too long to spend in Naples  , would it be a waste?

Advice needed please booking flights etc. soon !

This as posted awhile back, but noone responded.  I would really like to hear what people have to say about this as my friend and I were thinking about doing Naple/Pompeii/Capri in about 3 days.

Also if anyone liked any hostels in those areas I would love to hear about it! Thankx!

I will be there next Monday thru Saturday and will give you feedback.  Were doing 1 night in Naples, 3 in Ischia, and 1 in Capri or sorrento before heading up to Rome.

Be a little more aware of pickpockets (especially if you plan on taking the Circumvisuviana  Railway system to the Amalfi coast) and get a lay of your surroundings.  But as for murders, mafia, etc. don’t worry, it’s just like any other big city.

Naples is gritty and less tourist oriented than other Italian cities.  It’s well worth the stop.
