Okay, so Im staying in Meson del Barros and meeting a few people there. Luisfc.. still gonna be there?

We should probably designate a spot for eurotrip people to meet up. I know nothing about the place, so suggestions on a cool place or a nice little bar or cafe…actually, the cafe might be easier to deal with a meeting.

Anyway, everyone who’s in say "I" !!!

p.s. I leave May 20th for my trip, that’s why I am trying to put together plans so early..

Hasta luego Smile,
Tiff

I am in, but dont know where we should meet. Maybe the experienced once could give us a spot and we can do a daily type thing or desinate a few days since most are coming and going on various days.

I am staying a few blocks for the plaza del toros so I am up for anywhere that would be easy. Maybe we could wear something or do something to let others know we are eurotrippers or what ever you want to call it.

I will be in Pamplona on the 6th thru the 11th so I am more flexible on meeting days.

hope to meet all of you there and drink a few cervesas or sangria or whatever.

I’ll be coming. I’m staying outside of Pamplona itself but will be coming in each day once the festival begins. I’m in the area from the 3rd to the 9th or so.

Oh, and I’ve never been to Spain before, let alone Pamplona, so I can’t make any suggestions as to a meeting point. Smile But I’m keen to meet up with some eurotrippers for a cerveza or five.

benjfreeman@gmail.com if anyone wants to get in touch.

Im there in swimwear………… lololol! Me plus 3 arriving on the 5th from barcelona and staying in mendebeldea apartments……… looking forward to the meeting, just looking out for place and time. A restaurant or cafe will do, meeting over dinner never hurt anyone.

I’ll keep checking for official date and space………..

I’ll be there. From what I have read, all bars and cafes will be completely packed so even if we all agree to meet in one, there is a good chance we won’t find each other. It might not be a bad idea to get a group together in a lobby of a hotel and then hit the streets… just a suggestion. Lets meet on the 6th around 4 or 5 pm so we have a big group for the beginning of the actual festival.
Any suggestions ildx3ll@aol.com

My understanding was that on the 6th at approx. noon everything started in the town square when the mayor shoots off a rocket, partying goes on from there…………. but after rocket goes off everyone puts on red scarves and parties their arses off. Said square is packed w/revellers.

Take a train if you can. Don’t know how often the buses will be running from Madrid to Pamplona.

I’ll be coming from Barcelona to Pamplona via train. I think a couple others on this forum are doing the same.

In mid-May, go to http://www.raileurop…. You can purchase tickets up to 180 days in advance.

Spanish rail site says 46.5 euro for a train from Madrid to Pamplona. Takes 3h40m. Dunno how long/much for a bus (or how frequent).

You can also check out www.renfe.com for trains. Buses go to www.contenential-aut…

Plaza Castillo will be packed during the Chupinazo but after that the crowds filter out (or pass out LOL)

There is a Gazabo in the center of Plaza castillo which is a good meeting place,

or there is always just outside the front doors of LaPerla (they won’t let you hang out inside the hotel lobby and it may be closed this year.) La Perla is in Plaza Castillo as well.

The bars will be packed until monday so don’t try and meet at one of these.
There is also the main enterance to Plaza De Toros or there is the gate that the bulls run in or there is also a Bust of Heminway near this gate as well( to the left of the ticket office and left of the bull enterance)

Another good place and easy to find is the Ayuntamienbto (the town Hall) is another place you can find to meet. After the Chupinazo the crowds move out of the square and you can meet on the front steps there (people start to gather for the opening ceremony as early as 10:30 am so this is not a good place to meet up before the Chupinazo). Pick a time other than when the chupinazo is going on. From Noon on, on the 6th everything will be crowded.

Probaly the easiest place to find a group is either the Gazabo in Plaza Castillo(sunny), in front of La Perla(shady& covered if raining) the Bust of hemingway (shady) or the town hall(Sunny)
A small sign may also be of help. Good Luck Fiesta will be here before we know it. Have a great time

I’d be interested too, coming with my friend the 10th, 11th, and 12th. Ideally we’d like to have someplace where we could have our own room, do you have any friends or know of any apartments that would be willing to rent out? Does anyone else know of any good sites to try and find lodging?

Okay everyone, I am BLINDLY deciding that (out in front of) LaPerla hotel in Plaza Castillo sounds like a good place to meet. Not sure why, but sounds to me like a place everyone will be able to find easily.

Now for the date and time. I arrive on the 5th. Maybe the afternoon of the 6th? I say somewhere around 6pm sounds cool. We could find a place to grab some food, and then go party for the night….

What do you guys think?

good idea happytrails. 6 o’clock is a good time maybe between 5-6 or something like that, maybe meet on the 6th and 7th since some people are arriving on different days
myself – i’ll be arriving either the 6th or 7th, pretty much whenever i’m done with the last town i was in, whichever that was . . .

as for the place to stay in pampalona, i haven’t the slightest idea. if locobaker, from spain is serious about letting people stay; I"M DOWN.
email me with any further details

If you guys are going to grab something to eat then you had better have a few drinks first the food places start up at about 8.00 pm onward. A big group is difficult, but I could suggest the best place where you could fit in would be the Hong Kong Chinese place on San Nicholas, cross the Plaza from La Perla and the street is off the middle of the Plaza 500 yards down on the right. Later on grab some bottle of booze and check out the fireworks, the best view is from the Citidal. Have fun!

So what is the setup in Pamplona? Is street drinking legal? Can we buy drinks and just go onto the street?

What is the liqour licensing of venues like? Do you buy alcohol in restaurants or take your own, or what?

Most importantly, what are the drink prices like? What is recommended for poor student backpackers like myself? Smile

I will definitely NOT be having Chinese food in Spain, much less in Pamplona for the Running of the Bulls.

I suggest when we all get together in Pamplona, we should make a big toast to www.Eurotrip.com, to Spain, to the Spanish people, to Pamplona, to San Fermin, to Ernest Hemingway, and finally to the 1200lbs of pissed off hamburger meat were gonna try to outrun.

benaphex, I take it youve never been to Europa. Yes, you can drink on the streets. Check out www.whatsonwhen.com, click on video on the top right. There you can see clips during the Running of the Bulls, aka Los San Fermines. As for the rest of your questions, Just Go. If you dont want to sleep in a park or in some alley, you can still try www.mesondelbarro.co….
this is the only place i could get a room. cheapest rates are with 3 people.

6 more weeks folks, were gonna experience something that will last for the rest of your life.
Adios

Hi Folks,
I know it does sound strange Chinese food in Spain. But those happen to be the places that are more flexible about opening times and are not booked up. You have to remember that the city is wildly overcrowded that many of the places to eat are either booked before or all going to only have space for 2 or 4 people. If you want to eat as a crowd, your options are limited. Unfortunately the ‘old hands’ who go to the fiesta for years have had to get used to the problems of feeding in groups in the fiesta. But bottle in the street is no problem, in fact there are many shops which operate as bottle shops for the fiesta. The booze is still very cheap in these shops, it is the bars in the main Plaza that are quite pricy. Another solution to the eats problem is to grab some sandwich stuff and picnic late at the fireworks. It is difficult to operate with normal rule with the fiesta in Pamplona especially for the first few days because of the huge crowds. Imagine the wildest party you have been to and multiply that by ten! An alternative Spanish place to try would be The Mussel Bar, where you can get great basic tapas such as Patatas Bravas. From your meeting point it is ten metres to your right down Calle Chapitela turn right at the end another 20 yards then first left up the hill for 20 yards and the Bar is on your right. It is a big place, worth a visit. The area outside is where all the Aussies gather to jump off the monument and Party. For drinking you can fall into any street and it will be fun fun fun party party party. But the food part is the tricky bit! Hope you all have a great time. And remember, wear decent footware as the street are covered with broken glass.

this will be my first time running. i was thinking about doing what you said steven… maybe watching the run the first day to see how it all goes down exactly, but i think i want to do it that very first day. if i don’t do it that first time, i know i’ll regret it. i’m going to be the in pamplona for the whole week as well, so if i don’t die on the first run i’ll probably do it again. i’m leaving for europe tommorow. i can’t wait. i’ll see everyone in pamplona.

Whew………… trip coming up and I cant wait. Me and two friends will be leaving on June 30th for Europe from Los Angeles. We will definitely be meeting up with everyone in front of La-Perla, it should be great. We actually had a similar meet in Brazil for Carnival of tourists and made some good friends (2 from england just visited on their rtw tour).

I cant wait, and yes im gonna run on the first day……… i thought to watch first day too but i think u just have to jump in there and make it happen. I have a feeling that i am going to love it…. i just want to scout the run b4 hand so i at least i know where im going….. we cant really outrun bulls anyway, they will run amongst and between us…..

See all at Hotel La Perla on the 6th at 6pm. I will post on lonelyplanet.com also.
