RUGS: We could definately hook-up, as the Augustiner Zelt is where we are planning to spend at least 6 or 8 hrs, either Sunday or Monday (9/18).. We depart 9/20 morning as well…

The weekend is crazy, and many locals have things booked in the Auggie zelt the opening and middle weekends, as the locals very much love & prefer Augustiner brau. However, we plan to be there with our drinking shoes on – Monday (9/18) at high noon!

First time to Europe. I arrive in Prague on September 13 and then will hit up Budapest before I make my way to Munich on the 18th. Will only be there till the 21 and then I will finish my last week in Amsterdam. I’m 25 from Texas and all my friends sold me out…something about jobs & school…I dunno about that, that doesn’t sound as fun as Oktoberfest! So Anyways, I’m going solo and wouldn’t mind hooking up with some cool people to party with!

NJustice – I’m in the same boat. Friends backed out of trip and I’ve got hotel reservations that with 80% cancel fee. Not a hard choice party at Oktoberfest or pay not to go. I’ll be at Intercity Munich 9/18 – 9/21, Marriott 9/21 – 9/25 and Intercity again 9/25 – 9/28. This Oktoberfest #2 for me. I should be easy to spot, I’m 6’9" and 350 pounds. I am not quite 6’9, but I have hovered between 290 & 335 lbs at (6’1) in recent years. Not to mention I was benching 445 lbs or more, and squatting 600+ lbs. I was easy to spot (54" inch chest) as well!

That was three or four years ago. Now I am merely struggling to stay "Not-so-old", not as much muscle, but some… Instead of just a fat, old guy!

I’ve actually been on a diet since January 1 so I imagine I was well over 400 pounds then. The diet is out the window in September though. You’ve got me on the lifting. I was a college basketball player in the early 80’s back when they discouraged weight lifting and basketball. Of course those were the good old 250 pound days.

Wally- Looks like you had a blast on your last trip. I’m a little harder to spot at 5’11 170lbs. We are going to have to get togather and hit up a tent one night.

Stick with it Wally! I have been doing the Nuti-System for the past 18 days, and have lost about 1 lb. per day… Feeling pretty good, but I have at least 70 lbs to go – in order to reach my goal…

Njustice – I’m not from Texas but spent college years in Levelland at South Plains and Kingville at Texas A & I. A Redskin fan with a soft heart for Texas.

All this talk about weight is getting me depressed. Since quitting smoking 4 years ago I’ve put on 35lbs. I went from a svelt 6’2’ 220lbs to a soft 255lbs. I intended on slimming down for the fest, but that lasted oh…..about 2 days. Actually, I’m not worried about packing on too many pounds at the fest..I tend do do A LOT of walking on my trips. Anyway..lets forget about our poor health until we all get back from the fest. The party is about to start and I’m totally pumped. Litres of beer, pork knuckles & BIG ASS pretzles. Plenty of fat & carbs for everyone.

ESPO: You will not gain any weight in Munchen. In fact; I generally lose 3 to 5 lbs, because of all the walking. Plus, they have a great pool & spa in my hotel this year. I purposely do not take the train, just to get the exercise, even if I have to walk 4 or 5 miles each half-day…

Wally: I have been a die-hard Skins fan for at least 26 or 27 yrs! I Despise the Cowgirls!!! The Jaguars will CRUSH Dallas here in Jacksonville on Sunday, 9/10… As always, I shall be there(Row 18)!

I’m working right now on getting my laptop hooked up with Location Free remote access to our Directv right now. Skins play Dallas Sunday 8/17 at 8:00PM which will be about 2:00 AM in Germany on Monday morning. I’ll be hooked up to the Marriott Frankfurt internet to watch the game before taking train to Munich. My internal clock should be all screwed up by the time I get to Munich but beer should reset that clock pretty quickly.

Sunskin, have you ever been to Stuttgart’s Beer Festival. I’ve got 10 days in Munich and want to get out of town for a few of those days. Stuttgart’s looks like it starts on September 23 and I wondered if it’s worth leaving Munich’s Oktoberfest for a day or would I just be disappointed.

Yes indeed. I have been there twice(85 & 86) – for a night or two each time. I was stationed(U.S. Army) in Stuttgart for a bit less than three years, working at VII Corps HQ… The Stuttgart bier fest is pretty darn good. As of ten years ago, it was the 3rd largest such fest in Germany – behind Munchen(O-Fest) & Berlin(Love Parade), etc.. My roomie and I always hooked-up with some cute, young, very generous German gals at the Stuttgarter Fest…

In fact; Stuttgarter Hofbrau is a better tasting, and slightely stronger fest bier than Munchener HB. Also, Dinkel Acker is not too shabby!

They’ve been promoting as the 2nd largest beer festival with 3.5 million people attending. I decided to go watch opening cermonies on the 23rd. It’s great being a travel agent, Le Meridien had a travel agent rate for 75 euros a night. Nothing better than staying at a 5 star hotel while living on a star hotel budget.

I would say that people-count is fairly accurate. The Oktoberfest im Munchen has been drawing between 5.9 & 7.0 million for many years. The Stuttgarter Bier Festival has been #2 in size for at least 25 to 30 years. I am guseeing there was about 2.5 mil there when I last attended it in 1986. So, a million more in 20 years could definately be real.

I can’t believe it’s almost time. I had friends leave yesterday for Amsterdam, Paris & French Riviera. I’m ready to go, but feel like I may be starting to come down with a cold. THIS ALWAYS HAPPENS! I’m not sure if it’s stress or just dumb luck, but it never fails. Well, I’m just gonna try to take care of myself until i leave on Wed. Then I’ll start to abuse myself with alcohol & smoking when I get to Amsterdam
