Completely and utterly by accident… I happened to plan my time in Munich, during Oktoberfest. I’m so excited though! Let’s call it serendipity! Never thought it would have happened. Now, I’m in a mad dash to find a place to stay!? I’ve never done Oktoberfest before, I have no idea what’s in store for me, but I am just gonna go with it. Anyone here interested in meeting up and or…. going out on a limb here, a few of us going in on a room together? Seems my only other alternative is “the tent”. If anyone has any advice, I would greatly appreciate it. I’ll be traveling solo and have no problems making friends, especially with a few beers. Are reservations required and/or advance purchased tickets, to Oktoberfest?

When will you be in Munich? Deff keen for making friends too =)
if you will be getting your drink on heavily, why not stay at The Tent? it’s walking distance from Oktoberfest and believe it’s the cheapest accom around! I’ve selected to sleep on the floor, may as well, considering I’m gonna be sloshed anyways.

I have no idea yet, I’ve been searching the Couch Surfing website as well as looking at hostels on Hostel World.
I guess there is always the big tent there, that my friend and I could stay at.

I actually was able to book my rooms through my frequent flyer program…paying more than I wanted to – but at least I’m literally a few blocks away from the tents (traveling alone – so I wanted to make sure to be as close as possible for safety reasons).

Doors for the bigger tents (like HB) shouldn’t start locking people out till around 7 pm — there is usually a wave from the first group (that started drinking at noon) that heads out and the next wave gets in — I’m thinking 6pm in front of one of the bigger tents Wink
