Hi there,

I’m planning on taking a trip next summer to Spain, France, and Italy. I would like to see the southern coast of Italy I’ve seen so many beautiful pictures of. I’ve heard Positano is a good place to “set up camp” as you will to do this?? I’d have about 3 days to see this area. Plus we would probably stay in a hostel unless there’s some good hotel options that are not too pricey!

Can anyone give me tips or suggestions about this? I’d appreciate it! Thanks!

I am leaving from SEATTLE, WA with $4000 for 20 days
Madrid, Barcelona, Nice, Paris, Venice, Rome, Sorrento, Rome

Beautiful Positano is rather pricey indeed, and we preferred to visit it by day and sleep elsewhere.
But I heard there are a couple hostels there now plus one/two star hotels. Just remember that the pictures you see online might not be the view you get at your accommodations.

We spent 4 days on the Amalfi coast. Two nights in Sorrento, one night in Praiano, last night in Amalfi. From our hotel in Praiano, we had a wonderful view of Positano.

Many young people prefer to stay in Sorrento. Praiano was pretty quiet. The town of Amalfi felt the least touristy and most Italian. Pompeii and Herculaneum might interest you. The island of Capri is worth a day trip, as is the town of Ravenna.

If you take the bus from Rome to the Amalfi coast, be sure to sit on the right so you can enjoy the spectacular coastline.

Cil hit the nail on the head.

Louchi, look at a map, and look for lodging anywhere on the Amalfi Coast. All those towns are connected to each other by bus, and all of them are lovely.

Thanks for the tips you guys! I’ll definitely look into staying somewhere along the Amalfi coast that best suits our means. Good to know all the towns are relatively close to each other there!

You guys are all so helpful! Thanks again!
