That’s a long ways off, but if this helps at all, my son took Air India to Paris (out of New York, on Sept 11! and it was fine. That’s weird about the flight not being available online. How did you hear about it?
I can’t remember how my kid booked it, but it was probably online.
Is it Air India all the way through to Tunis, or a partner airline?

I checked (again) the Newark-London fare with Air India — ITA to see available dates, then ran those dates through Bookingbuddy — and I see it available for booking at $663 total from at least several online booking sites, and 1 listed with Bookingbuddy has it for $659.

Where did you check that made you believe this fare is no longer available?

Mahdouch, sounds like you realize the risks of making your own connections. If you miss a connection on separate tickets that you’ve booked on your own, then you’re most likely SOL.

If it were me, I’d power-search SEA-TUN with all sources and in our new user thread (top of this forum), and also consider other intermediate cities. For example, check how much for NYC-TUN, or YVR (Vancouver)-TUN, or YVR-LON… etc.

Check/see Europan low-cost flights to TUN with Whichbudget. Also try the prices from LON with BookingbuddyUK, and realize that 5 airports are commonrated “LON” — so plan carefully. If all goes to plan, I’d want at LEAST 4 hours to connect tickets at the same airport. If I had to transfer from, say, Gatwick to Stansted, I’d want at least 6 hours; I would also realize that if something went wrong, I’d be SOL. On an expensive trip like this, consider insurance that specifically covers mis-connections on separate tickets (if you can find it). If you’ve got the time, why not just plan to spend a night in London each way? Might be cheaper than the insurance in this case.

Thank you so much Don for these advices
appreciate it
Actually, i was planning to take a flight from vancouver to london for 1088$
and to go to vancouver from seattle by car, leaving the car for 2 weeks in the airport parking for 140$
but when I realized that i have to do 3 hours by car after returning to vancouver i didn’t like that idea too much … so i’ve planned to take a flight from seattle to vancouver, but honnestly it’s not a good deal.
and after few researches, i found it would be better for me to find a deal from the east cost to europe.
actually i found a very good deal today, i found that iceland air has a flight for around 650$ for july.
and the problem with all of that is if one of my flight get retarded or canceled, i’m screwed. it’s a risk and i don’t know if is worth it to take or not.
this “ownmade” connections will cost around 1300$ and for around 20 hours flight (best deal i found currently) compare to british airways seattle – tunis 1550$ with 35hours flight

md, keep in mind that you don’t have to drive to and from the Vancouver airport. You can take QuickShuttle, the Amtrak bus, or Greyhound.

Mahdouch, if going from Vancouver, be sure to also check Canadian Affair to the UK, then the other strategies onward to Tunisia. YVR-LGW 26 June-12 July $748 CDN, for example.

I deeply appreciate Don and all of you guys
I think i’m going to book right now Smile
I’m just reading some reviews about the thomas cook airlines, to see about the delay they could make.
still for this price it’s really good deal

I just checked xe.com/ucc and $748 CAD currently is $631 USD. Wow. If those dates work for you, and you find something good from London to Tunisia, you should jump on this fare. I don’t think you’ll do better than $631 for anywhere PacNW to anywhere Europe in peak season.

Using BookingbuddyUK to search LON-TUN turned up a nonstop flight with British Airways from Gatwick—the same as the Canadian Affair flight uses—for only $250 USD round trip if booked from Cheaptickets.com. It departs the 27th of June at 12:55 p.m. Let’s see if we can make this work….

The Thos. Cook (sold by Canadian Affair) flight departs Vancouver 26 June, overnight, and is scheduled to arrive 10:30 a.m. on 27 June. The British Airways flight for $250 departs 12:55 p.m. That’s tight, in my opinion — only 2 hrs. and 25 mins. — yet probably do-able if it arrives on time, and more do-able if you don’t travel with checked bags.

Coming back… the BA flight from TUN departs 5:35 p.m. and doesn’t arrive back to Gatwick until 7:30 p.m. That means you’d miss the Thos. Cook flight which is scheduled to depart at 11:40 a.m. So, you’ve got a few options —

1. Check the Thos. Cook/Canadian Affair flights for the next day. Might still require you get back to LON a day early so you can catch the flight out to Vancouver next morning.

or,
2. Check BA.com to see if they have better flight times.

A quick check looks like BA only have 1 flight per day between LGW and TUN, and only 4 days per week, so overnighting in London—at least for the return portion—looks necessary if you want to get this awesome price. It’s $68 r/t + taxes from Cheaptickets, by the way; I seriously doubt you’ll get that cheaper anywhere. The other airlines look to have at least as much tax—if not more.

If you can get the shuttle to Vancouver airport, this fare with Thomas Cook, the nonstop BA flights from Gatwick to TUN and back, and add a hotel and airport transfer, you might do this trip for just over $1000 if all goes well.

You can check/see if Thos. Cook have baggage agreements with BA, so when you check in at YVR maybe they can check your bags all the way through to TUN. If they don’t have baggage forwarding agreements, then you’d be better to travel light on the way there, and maybe travel with more stuff on the way back to Seattle — since if you do it this way, you’ll have some time to relax in London and make your connection the next morning.

I wouldn’t book anything with a tight connection time for several reasons:
1) Charter flights especially, but actually any flights, are quite prone to schedule changes.
2) It can be slow as molasses to get around London airports, and to transfer between London airports. It’s reasonable to allow at least twice as long as you should need.
3) Even a flight that is not rescheduled might not leave on time.

Jeffaz, start with Farecompare, then take the best 5 to ITA, then take the best roundtrip to BookingBuddy, or take the best open-jaw* to Kayak or Mobissimo‘s multi-city search. *Open-jaw = arrive one city, return from different city.

You can also sign up for sale alerts at Farecompare. Additionally, use the tactics and further links in our new user thread — top of this forum.

A quick search for you didn’t turn up anything brilliant (Dublin or Stockholm in the $1200s), so definitely sign up for a few routes on Farecompare, and cross fingers for a decent fare. For PHX to anywhere Europe in peak season, $1200 r/t is typical. If you get under $1000, that’d be brilliant.

Two really good fares popped up with Icelandair. I used Jul 21-Aug 21, for example:
NYC STO 656 FI
BOS CPH 665 FI
Icelandair allows stopover in Iceland up to 3 days if you book it that way from the beginning. If you want to add a stopover after booking flights with them, you have to pay the change fee ($200?) + any additional airfare.

Air Berlin has one-way flights from JFK-TXL (berlin) for <$400 right now, round trip $876 incl taxes and fees, prices are for the entire month of June.
Less than $300 one-way if you leave in May, ~$700 r/t if you leave in May and return in June. ~$900 May-July.

Icelandair has flights from JFK-CDG r/t $893 May-July; for June-July —no joke— $578 incl taxes, certain days (I searched June 15-July 15).

Fare was there for August too.
I just prefer to travel in September after the crowds have thinned out and my children are back in school.
Thanks again.

MIA DUS 673 (June 8\June 22 for example) Air Berlin
JFK DUS 634 (June15\June24 for ex.) Air Berlin

Air Berlin (f.k.a. LTU) has a nifty search covering N/S/E/West Germany, with connections from their DUS hub for not much more in the overall airfare. For example…

JFK to Dresden, back from Berlin June 15\24 for $739 r/t total.
Miami to Munich, back from Stuttgart using June 8\22 for $778 r/t total.

MIA BHX 845 USAir
TPA BHX 846 “
MCO BHX 847 “
Looks like best availability on these if return before end of June (30 day max stay).

There are some amazing SFO-DUB fares right now with Continental, Delta and American offering fares in the $389-$400 range. For these super low fares the key outbound date is May 26 (on this day, not by this day) and returning tuesdays or thursdays by June 25. I saw some pretty good fares on some other days in the same period, such as $478 on American.

anybody know if tripadvisor.com is reliable?

For flights from Toronto to Dublin it cites around $600 round trip with the taxes factored in all ready. Other sites have given similar costs, but I can’t tell if they factor in the tax’s.

I am leaving from Toronto Canada and Dublin, Ireland with $1138 for 22 days

I’ve used tripadvisor for hotel info but never for airfares (looks like that’s new for them). $600 is about what I see elsewhere. Have you though about reworking your itinerary and buying an open-jaw ticket so you don’t have to backtrack to Dublin? It looks like U.S. Air has YYZ-LGW, DUB-YYZ for your dates, so you could start in London, head north, then head down to Dublin.

Well the way that we have it circled right now our trip is pretty nice. It makes an irregular circle lol. I don’t know what open jaw means <.< … now is when I admit I’ve only ever even been out of my province once and never on a plane, it was four hours drive away into Buffalo.

We really like the set up we have but we’re looking for whatever is cheapest so that I can still maybe afford school >.<, which doesn’t happen easily when you don’t qualify for funding and don’t have relatives or sponsors who will help.

Open-jaw means that you fly into one city and out of another, in this case into London and out of Dublin. An open-jaw fare can save you on backtracking, but looking again, your itinerary actually isn’t that bad since you only have to get back to Dublin from Belfast.

SFO-MAD staying up to 30 days outbound June-Aug for $626-$646 on Delta, Continental & American. So tempting for me to grab a month long late June-late July ticket before it disappears.

There are some great fares to FRA, ROM, MXP, MAD, BCN, and CDG from SFO and LAX if you depart May 26 and return on dates between June 23-35. Frankfurt was best at around $403 from SFO, other cities were $550ish and below. I had a long post with the exact details for about 15 fares typed out but something went wrong when I attempted to post and the back button didn’t bring back what I had typed. I started with Kayak and supplemented with fares on U.S. Air’s website since Kayak doesn’t search it.
