Both are great. A lot depends on what you want to see. Rome is a large busy city and the popular sites are more spread out. Florence is more compact, and in, I think, in a more scenic part of Italy. On a short trip, I think I would pick Florence, as I think Rome takes longer to explore. But I wouldn’t pass up an opportunity to see either.

I agree with ClevelandBrown’s post.
In terms of nightlife, I wonder if Florence, being a more compact city, might also be more approachable?

And what stuff? You’re looking for nightlife and what else? Architecture? Historic sites? You’re not being clear.

As for nightlife, neither of these cities is exactly Ibiza, but Rome being a big city, and Florence being a sizeable mid-size city, both will have plenty nightlife for you. Especially this being Italy, like in anywhere in Southern Europe, bars and restaurants are generally open at much later times than in Northern Europe.

Both cities are equally great. I will suggest visit both of them.

Tuscany Farmhouses are perfect holiday accommodation for your Italy visit.
