Scholarships

Does anyone know of scholarships available for american students to study in Europe? I’m working on a Computer Science degree, which is my second degree. I think I have enough courses to jump to graduate school, if that would be a better opportunity for scholarship or grant money.

You might find something legitimate using the College Board search engine.

I really wonder if studying required a certain GPA. I mean, if the school would consider your transcript. I know it matters somehow, but I’m just a little skeptical because I haven’t been performing well when I was in college. What do you think about this?

Well most colleges in europe won’t accept you unless you meet a minimum GPA which really depends on the school…
Next most scholarships will still give you money to study abroad…
Not sure what Europe requires but to go through my old university in the states you must have a 2.7 to qualify for study abroad.

I’m interested in this subject myself. I will be studying a broad for a year at the University of Salzburg via my home university here in the States. I’m technically “only” paying what my tuition is here at home, but I don’t live on campus here so I’m not used to the automatic doubling that this causes in the sticker-shock
I’m already accepted into my program and everything, I just need money now!

The Rotary Club awards a $25,000 scholarship to study abroad. See if you have a Rotary Club in your area. Also check with any other club in the area. Don’t worry about having an interest in what they do. Apply anyway.
Where are you in uni here in the states? I just finished my Computer Science degree and am now working on an MBA at Belhaven.
Good luck!

Thanks for the lead on this Rotary stuff MB. I never thought about it, and that’s a lot of money for sure!
Anyway I go to BGSU in Ohio…and soon, University of Salzburg

Go to Yahoo Answers and search for scholarship/grants, etc.
I think Google has a question/answer section also.
And try http://www.cfda.gov – There may be something there that your uni may help you with.
Call the Human Resources departments of businesses to see if they sponsor students. It’s rare, but some will offer money to help. They can only say ‘no’.
Good luck. As ideas pop into my head, I’ll post them.

Thanks, I really appreciate it

Do you speak german/austrian or will the classes be taught using the english language.

All my classes are in German, but are sort of designed with foreigners in mind. As I understand it, there will be students from all over the world in our regular classes, and most of us will be in dorms with Austrian students.
