Hi, so i’ve looked at all the hostel websites and can’t decide for the life of me where to stay in Sorrento!  I’ve been looking at Villaggio Resort and Ostello Delle Sirene.  One is in the city center and the other, nicer, one isn’t.  If anybody has stayed in Sorrento I would LOVE some advice!  Also, would it be a better idea to stay in Naples?  Is Sorrento a good jumping off place to go to Naples, Amalfi, Capri etc.?

It is perfect for Amalfi and Capri, but as I recall it is some distance from Naples. Sorrento is a nice town.
We stayed here: Hotel Desiree—Via Capo, 31B. Fax: 081. 8781563
Fantastic views, private balcony, stony but pretty beach, very friendly and helpful staff. A bit of an exhaust-fumed walk into town, but not bad.
It is a budget hotel, but still might be too expensive for you. And I can’t find a website for the place, and I can’t remember how I found it, sorry. I wish I knew of some feedback for the hostels you are considering, but unfortunately I don’t.

I think you can take the Circumvesuviana to Pompeii, Sorrento, and all the other places, including Herculaneum.
You get the ferry to Capri at Sorrento. The coastline is absolutely breathtaking.
