I am flying to rome from st. louis in late may/early june. Is it reasonable for me to expect to find a ticket for around $700 round trip? How long should I wait before I give up and drop a grand?

So far this year, prices seem to be staying fairly high—compared to previous years. Have you tried the links and strategies in our new user thread—near the top of this forum?

Also be sure to sign up for fare alerts with Bing and Farecompare for this route. For late May outbound, I’d want to book by the first week of April—if not sooner. $700 could happen, but so far, it seems less-likely for this upcoming summer season.

By the way, I’m seeing some late May-early June prices in the $900s from consolidators in our new user thread.

thanks so much for the quick reply! I also heard that if you sign up for an american airlines credit card you get a free one way international flight. I will check that out as well- If this offer is true I can always cancel the card after I book my flight.

Good luck with that.
