Student flights-- qualification/verification?
Wed, 12/03/2008 - 02:26
Hey, I am wondering how exactly they check you to see if you are a student when you buy a student discounted flight (such as from studentuniverse.com). Like if I bought the ticket in February when I still was a student but used it in May after I graduated would that still count? I’ll be 20 when I graduate, so it’s not like they’ll be skeptical of my age for being a student. I want to go to Europe right after graduation (a present to myself) so I was just wondering what exactly the student discount would entail. thanks!

Call Student Universe directly and read the terms and conditions carefully. They don’t always have the cheapest rate. Sometimes they offer a low fee for ticket changes, but you will have to pay any upgrade in airfare costs on the new flight. Get their best rate and shop all the other web sites list on this board and check often since short sales appear often.
StudentUniverse (SU) has a lot of great fares but Packer is right you may find cheaper.
Like STA they offer special student tickets that tend to be more flexible but not always the cheapest.
The good thing about SU is that you don’t have to buy an ISIC (International Student Identity Card) in order to get a student flight but SU does check with the registrar of your school to confirm your student status.
