study in UK
Mon, 12/17/2007 - 13:44
My 18 yr. old daughter has recently graduated highschool and wants to study abroad her first semester. I think it would be a great experience for her however her grades and SAT scores are not that good. Looking at the internet is overwhelming. There are obviously many companies that can assist but I don’t know which ones to contact. Many of them require that the student already be enrolled in college. Others want high gpa’s and sat scores. Can anybody point me in the right direction? Even if she does’nt get college credit for her courses, I think it would be worth it. Are there schools in the UK that I could contact directly (like community colleges that are not as stringent about grades) or are there organizations that are specialize in students like this? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I would suggest she wait until her second year. After she starts her college career at home, her school will be able to assist in sending her abroad. This will probably be much smoother and cheaper than trying to do it on her own.

No offense, but low gpa’s and sat scores are usually a good indication of how one will fare in university. You’ll be paying the international student rate, basically paying 3X for a degree that won’t be worth wiping your arse with back home.
Why not have her enroll in an american school that has an exchange or study abroad option?
WHy not just send her on a RTW trip then? Sending her to a foreign country where she doesn’t speak the language, know the metric system, etc just for the sake of getting out of the country isn’t sound advice.
Hi,
I have comleted my graduation seeking post graduation from any of the UK university.
hi,
I am a science graduate and seeking for job in UK .
Is it really difficult to get the job in Uk in feild of life science?
I imagine that LIFE will be difficult for you – you can’t spell or type (the word is field).
Ah sweet youth hold all our futures in the palms of their greasy, sweaty hands, and yet they are graduated from science college with a degree and can’t spell?
You should talk. You misspelled destination in your signature.
Eat the food, use the wrong verbs, and end up getting charged double.
I would strongly suggest that she wait…I’m entering my junior year and I plan to spend my spring semester at LSBU…Most schools (nearly all) have Study Abroad offices that tell you what schools they have exchange programs with, also check out isep.org it’s a study abroad organization that has a lot of info on programs…But she should definitely pursue an abroad program…But she should get her feet wet in college before she goes out in the world especially because some schools might cater to her degree more and she should have an idea of what she wants to do…PATIENCE IS A VIRTUE!
Amsterdam, Munich, Rome, Riomaggiore, Avignon, Zürich, Freiburg
I think that she should wait, because usually there are a lot of exchange programmes in college.
