I came across this site on the web tonight. The lowest fare for my late April-early May RT SF to Rome itinerary came up at $547.82, taxes included, which is about $250 less than on the many other well-known sites I’ve searched. I have never heard of this site and am wondering if anyone on this board has used it with satisfactory results.

The least expensive fare (above) was on Delta through Cincinnati (Northern Kentucky). The departure, the one connection, and the return times were convenient. Flights on other airlines such as BA and USAirways were also offered, at slightly higher fares.

Please post if you’ve booked through this site and were happy with the process.

They do have some good fares on there. I found LAX-CDG departing 4/14 returning 4/27 for $471 total. Wonder if it’s too good to be true.

It does sound too good to be true, unfortunately. I’m imagining that when you start to book, the lowest fares are not available, and they’ll offer a higher fare. I don’t want to give them CC info until I can find out more about the site.

It is probably a consolidator or reseller of consolidator tickets. Compare with others such as flights.com, discountflights.com, justfares.com, 1800flyeurope.com.

Thanks Don. I checked the consolidators mentioned in your post. The range was $713 through $845, much higher than Superfares’ $547 (tax included).

Cheapest I see otherwise is $720 total on Air France available from OneTravel.

I tried to have a look at superfares.biz but connection was refused, also with www.super…. still refused. Superfares.com is a vacation club.

For a start, I’d want to make phone contact. I’d also like to know why they would have consolidator rates that no other site has – and to hear a good reason. If you do phone, I wouldn’t have my credit card handy, because they probably have high-pressure sales tactics.

I just tried again (www.superfares… and just superfares.biz) and get "There is no website configured at this address." Based on numerous attemps over several days, I’d be skeptical.

Just found a thread on this on the Fodor’s website. Bottom line, it’s a scam and don’t use it!

I tried to book a flight to Germany and was told by Superfares that my credit card was declined with error code 302 and they would investigate. There is nothing wrong with my credit card or rating and after the superfares.biz website closed, I could not reach them by email or phone. They also never got back to me like promised. So I did cancel my credit card just to be on the safe side. Please, everyone, be CAREFUL !!!!

Hi,

I just booked with them. Didn’t know about the discussion on this forum. After booking I got a error message as well and couldn’t reach them by phone. Started looking on google for possible scams and came to this site. I haven’t cancelled my creditcard yet. Has anybody ad a reply on their emails or phonecalls?

I would contact your credit card issuer immediately and express your concerns. Ask them to block any charges that could possibly be associated with this co., or put a temporary block on your card, or whatever they can do. I suspect they will reccomend closing the current acct and issue you a new card.

Because of the possible scam, I contacted Dawson and Sabderson in London (UK). Superfares claims to be affiliated with them. This is their answer:

Hi

Your email has just been brought to my attention with regards to Superfares.biz. I can confirm that this company has nothing to do with my company Dawson and Sanderson. I would suggest that you contact your credit card company as soon as possible to stop payment until you find out if they are a legitimate company or not.

I have tried to access their website but am having no response. We are aware that some people were stating this same information on their bogus websites a few months ago before we managed to get this stopped, so this may be part of the same group so I will look into this. However as advised above contact your credit card company.

I think this says all.

BE AWARE

I tried Superfares and it seems legitimate until you get to the payment part. The airline tickets were less than anyone else but I never got to the point of actually recieving them. After agreeing to purchase the tickets they had indicated ,I submitted my credit card for the final purchase.I recieved an E-mail shortly after stating that the bank card was declined giving me "error code 302".I called my credit card company to confirm there were no charges and indeed there were none.In spite of the fact that my credit is good and there are no restrictions on my card for such a transaction Superfares said it was declined.I tried to call Superfares to find out the problem and I could never get through on the 800 number they supplied. After repeated e- maiil attempts I finally recieved an E-mail from a company rep stating that the only way I could resume the purchase was to wire the money directly to their bank account which is located in Bangkok ,Thailand.I stopped at this point any communication with them because I felt that I might be on the losing end of this deal.Allthough it could be legitimate ,I felt their untimely response and communication efforts, payment methods and business practices were not on the level I was used to dealing with when making purchases online.

Thanks for the report, Cautious.

I think we can be fairly certain that any travel agency that falsely uses another company’s name, and that requires that money be wired to Bangkok is not on the up and up.

I also found excellant rates on SuperFares.biz. I tried to check out the rates today; and the page that came up for this site, said "My account has been suspended". This makes no sense. I have never registered or given this site any information at all.

When checking the fares last night on SuperFares.biz; I compared the fares for Economy, Business Class and First Class. Business Class was almost $3,000 and First Class was $1,800. That makes no sense at all. They also had a First Class Economy Class. That would not load so I don’t know what that fare would be. And besides that; I have never heard of a First Class Economy Class. Economy is Economy. No more or less can be said about Economy. I do not believe this is a reputable company. It is a fly by night rip-off and scam.

I had a similar experience with superfares.biz the other day.

No response to the customer service phone numbers, and very patchy responses to my e-mail requests. Plus the statement to transfer money to a bank in Thailand — this all had my skeptical feelers out. When they couldn’t give me a real business address, a contact person, or a confirmation number on the airline they had ostensibly booked me on, I said good riddance, and called my credit card company (since I had given them my details — one never knows).

The site had me duped. I will be much more prudent in the future — not worth a hundred bucks to go through that again!

I tried Superfares.biz. DO NOT USE THIS SITE! I to gave my credit card information and received an declined credit card error 302. I then received an e-mail saying that I was required to wire-transfer money. When, I responded back to the e-mail with a request to check my credit card information. I was informed by "Mary" that I needed to wire-transfer money and that she could not use my credit card. The bank I was to wire-transfer money to was in Bangkok, Thailand. Needless to say, I did not transfer any money at all. Since I do not need a flight for several months, I have been checking sites for fares for awhile. Today I stumble on another site BusySky.net which seemed very familiar. Everything was exactly like Superfares.biz, so I did some checking and found another chat site that had some information. BusySky.net was also declining credit cards because of error code 302, and sending out e-mails that requested a wire-transfer. BusySky.net though has contact information(though I did not try the numbers), and the bank required to wire-transfer the money to is in the states. Several different states were reported on the chat site, such as Virginia, and California that their bank and offices were located in. However, the chat site also reported that e-mails were coming from someone named "Mary". Needless to say I did not even give my credit card information this time. Everyone please be aware that these people are creating sites and moving around. Please inform the authorities, BBB, or any other agency that deals with this stuff. These people are big time crooks!!!!!

I don’t know what to suggest. But phone your wire service and see if the transfer can be stopped! Quickly!

Don’t do it guys!! Looks like I’ve been caught out already.
I have researched about 7 sites for the past 3 days now since parting with a very large sum of money on 3rd March 2005 and not having any tickets to show for it or not been able to get an answer from the person I was communicating with. The sites have been dead for a few days then all of a sudden they come alive again. I have informed the authorities in Bangkok and reported it to the police here in UK. I can only hope now that an application from my end through my bank can retrieve most if not all of my money.
The sites involved are as follows and they are all linked or have had links to the same IP address, although some are not working now:

www. busysky.net
www. aircentral.net
www. superfares.biz
www. bookingsaver.com
www. submitprice.net
www. happyticket.net
www. crazytickets.net
www. cheapclouds.com

Hope this helps you steer clear of them.
