Here’s a question for Sunskin or any other Oktoberfest expert. As I mentioned in my question on the Blauer Bock, we’re in Munich for one night and most of two days—arriving 6:30 am on the 19th, in time to see the Rifleman’s & Costume Parade at 10, and leaving on the 4:40 train on the 20th.

So…here’s the dilemma. I really feel compelled to see Dachau. My mom has instilled in me a great sense of "Never forget," and it feels very important to me to go there. However, along with that sense of responsibility and moral interest, I also feel a great compulsion to drink much beer.

I’m thinking that we could see some of Munich in the morning and view the parade, then take the train to Dachau about noon and return around 4 pm to get into our beer tent and &quotrost" the night away. That would leave the rest of the day on Monday (when Dachau is closed), once we recover from our hangovers, to see the Residenz, Alte Pinakothek, and Schloss Nymphenburg before our 4:40 train.

Will this be just too depressing, to come back from Dachau to go straight to the beer tent? Or will a beer tent and rowdiness be just what we need after that intensity?

Advice?
