Hi all, I’ve saved up / am saving up and am doing a backpacking trip round Europe this summer. I was supposed to be going with a couple of mates from uni, but they’ve bailed out on it. I have booked a flight to Venice on July 7th and am staying witha friend for a few days. I then plan on getting the train to llubljana ( slovenia ) and then onto Croatia (supposed to be beautiful) and through eastern Europe to Germany, where I have some friends. If money allows I would like to go over the Alps and into Spain as well ( have always fancied Barcelona). I plan on seeing the various sights theses places have to offer and enjoying the local nightlife. I am going to stay in hostels / camp along the way. Although if necessary I will go alone, I think it will be more fun if I could find a travel buddy to come along with me. So if anyones interested in doing this trip or meeting up along the way, feel free to reply to this or message me.
Cheers
Nick

Hey Nick, I’m Aaron from the US and planning on doing a very similar trip. I’m planning on flying to London around the 23rd of July to visit some friends, then flying to Prague ~July 30 and making a loop thru Czech, Austria, Slovenia, Croatia, and working my way back to Prague in August. I’ve not yet reserved flights, but am looking to book them in the next week or 2. Let me know if you want to meet up somewhere.

Aaron

Hey

My name is Justin and I’m planning to backpack through Europe from July 16 to August 17, staying in hostels and doing that whole bit . Also, I’ll be flying into London (Heathrow) and leaving from there. Let me know if you are interested in meeting up along the way and/or forming a larger group. Some of my friends from the states may be flying into London in late July who may also want to me up along the way as well. I’m pretty much up for anything whether it be sightseeing, drinking with locals…whatever. Anyone on this post who is interested message me or post me. Happy travels.

I’m flying into Heathrow airport and then I was going to see London for a few days and then probably do some hiking in the lake district and visit a friend in Dublin. Since this is my first time to Europe I’m still trying to plan things out, and see where outside of the UK I want to go. I fly in on the 17th and plan on traveling around for 12 days before I have to go back to London because I have a friend flying in on July 29 and we had planned on taking the rail to France and then down to Italy where my friend will fly out on August 12. What countries are you planing on seeing besides Sweden? I’m fairly flexible in my schedule, so let me know if you’re going to be in the area.

hey justin wats up,
so far this is what i have planned… this could change though as i met a few people to possibly meet up with. a few seem interested somewat, so assuming they all blow me off, hopefully not! it would be sad Frown, haha then this is my plan…
flying into stockhol, sweden > denmark > germany > austria > switzerland > italy
depending on how many days i have left ill decide to go to spain and what not… that isnt set however, as it can change any day like i said. everyone who im talking to is traveling west europe so if i find someone then ill be doin a west path instead, and depending on what your doing i could change it up so we could meet up.
However; sweden, netherlands/holland, austria and switzerland i wanted to go to for sure. those 4 places i am meeting up with people for sure have u thought of london to amsterdam/netherlands? im meeting someone there and we could also meet up there.. its still kinda close to london so u wouldnt be far away for when you return for your friend. we could meet up for a drink and hang out for a day or two in the area. if the amsterdam idea or meeting up in general sounds good, lemme know so we can get something for sure. im up for meeting/making as many new friends as i can, funnest thing
alright, gotta run bye!

London to Amsterdam/Netherlands sounds like it would be doable for me. I could definately meet up and have time to get back to London to pick up my friend. Also, you said that you were going to Italy. Let me know around what dates. I’ll probably be heading there sometime in August. One of my buddies friends is also going to be in Europe at the same time. She is flying in to Paris and will probably follow us down to Italy, so there might be a decent size group of us in Italy if you would want to join us. Alright talk to you soon.

I was thinking of going to Cinque Terre and Levanto to start off, which should make it easy for you to get to if you’re coming from Portugal. I have to head back to London on the 14th or 15th of August at the latest to fly back to the states. Also, I plan on staying in hostels for most of the trip…at least that’s the plan. I plan on seeing Rome and then I’m not sure where else I would like to go…maybe someplace in Southern Italy. It seems like we’re on the same time frame for that last leg of the trip, so let me know once you finalize your plans.

Mike,
It’s not too bad getting from Milan’s airport to the Cinque Terre. You bus from the airport to the train station and it’s about three hours on the train.

hey justin,
i bought my plane ticket to milan malpensa. After checking things out unfortunately the earliest train (unless im lucky and find a ealier one) will be 4:00PM and ill arrive in La Spezia Central around 7:17PM. From there Ill either take a train or bus to cinque terre. Checking google maps it says its basically an hour ride Frown so unless you want to meet up a bit closer to la spezia central ill be in cerre terre around 8:30 Smile are u going to have a cell phone with you, i could call wen i arrive in la spezia and find a place to meet at or will you be checking your emails often?

I’m still up for meeting in Italy. I haven’t looked into where the best place to get a cell phone. Let me know where you get yours or if you know of any good places once you get there. I’m in colorado hiking and fishing for about a month so the best way to reach me is through email. Internet conectivity is kind of spotty on my blackberry.

Hey Justin,
After looking around I think im going to skip on getting a cell phone for europe
They are kind of expensive everywhere I looked, and I probably wont be using it much. I am going to more then likely get a phone card If the prices are cheap, Ill get one in europe. Ill let you know when I get there.
