Hi, I’ve been really getting into planning my trip to Europe next summer. My co-traveler and I are going hoping to see Rome and then move on to Italy — now we are scenery people so we love seeing all that Europe has to offer…what would be the suggested route to travel from Rome to Athens on a budget?

I am leaving from New York City with $5000 for 33 days
Dublin, London, Amsterdam, Paris, Venice, Rome, Barcelona, Palma de Mallorca, Valencia, Madrid, Lisbon
Requesting help with Transport, Hostels, Budget, Itinerary, Nightlife, Sights
I am leaving from JFK and traveling for 92 days
Dublin, Belfast, Liverpool, Edinburgh, London, Paris, Brussels, Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Berlin, Prague, Venice, Rome, Nice, Barcelona, Palma de Mallorca, Valencia, Gibraltar, Lisbon, Madrid, Bordeaux
Requesting help with Transport, Hostels, Budget, Itinerary, Nightlife, Food, Sights

Europe on a budget? Yes please!

1. First choice, spend more time in scenic parts of Italy and/or Greece and fly.
2. Second choice, train to Bari or Ancona, ferry to Greece (maybe with a stop in Scenic Corfu), bus to Athens.

Do you want to go to Athens for some reason or are you interested in visiting Greece? Another possibility for those interested in scenery would be to skip Athens and fly to one of the Islands.
