Traveling like a student

I was reading a website about studying in Paris, and it mentioned that the cost of living for students is about EUR 700-1000 per month.
So I’ve been wondering … if you follow a student lifestyle (by staying in one city, renting a room in a dorm or in the outskirts, dropping the rail pass…) would you be able to get by on EUR1000 per month?
I guess it’d be a nice way to discover a new city. Don’t you think?

I’m not sure what your question is. Were you originally itnending in backpacking through Europe, and now you’re thinking of just staying in one city for a month, and flying back home?
luv_the_beach I’m just considering it as an option. I prefer slow travel to backpacking.
It’s a great way to travel, if you’re seriously considering it. There’s some hostels that don’t have a time limit.
AFAIK student housing in Paris is heavily subsidized and so are the meals in student restaurants. Most likely you could sustain on that much money, but you’d have to limit your spending to necessities. Go to the the museums on free days, no street food, no restaurants… But that would be an interesting experience.

Depends on where you want to go. In Central Europe (CZ, SK, PL, HU and further to the East) 1000 euros is more than 90 percent of population earns per month. So it’s quite liveable
If you have any questions about Prague or Czech and Slovak republics, ask me.
